Fit Review! Banana Republic The Classic Linen Shirt & Clara Linen Short Sleeved Shirt

It's currently as hot as it gets in Atlanta. It's in the 90s and so humid the moment I step out of the car my glasses fog over. It's stifling hot and disgustingly humid. The worst kind of heat in my opinion. The only way I can stay cool is wearing loose fitted linen tops which I am so glad I bought! I'm also gearing myself up for my No Buy Challenge next month. I'm really into fall clothes so for the month of August, I'll be saving up. If anyone else would like to join me, please do! More the merrier. 😊

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and wear size Petite XS in Banana Republic. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

On sale! $43.97 Plus Extra 20% Off!

I absolutely love this Classic Linen Shirt Light in Blue Stripe. It's also on super sale right now and I'm seriously tempted to buy a back-up because I love it so much. I'm wearing size Petite XS and it's a perfect fit. It's slightly loose, but not oversized and can be dressed up for the office or paired with shorts and sandals for the weekend. I've already worn it a couple of times and it's a classic piece that will stay in my wardrobe for years to come.

I really like rolling up the sleeves for summer, giving it a stylish but casual look. The blue stripes is the perfect quintessential button down.

I loved the blue stripe so much, I also bought it in the Linen Beige color. Linen can have a slightly scratchy feel, but these two feel so soft, I immediately donated my other linen button downs that were slightly scratchy and stiff. The sleeve length is slightly long but I don't mind folding it up.

also wearing Lululemon Knit Shorts - (old)

Since linen can wrinkle easily, I highly recommend investing in a handheld steamer. I purchased one three years ago from Amazon that I love and use all the time. I hate ironing anything and find the handheld steamer so much easier to use.

I also wanted a couple of short sleeve linen tops and the Clara Linen Short Sleeved Shirt feels just as amazing as The Classic Linen Shirt. I'm wearing size Petite XXS as the reviews said to size down and I'm glad I did. This top has a relaxed fit with dolman sleeves.

also wearing Athleta's Seasoft Straight Pant Size Petite XS

Banana Republic's linen feels luxuriously soft and very lightweight and super breathable. I know I'll be rotating these tops all summer long. I'm also eyeing these linen tops - Linen Sharp Shoulder T-Shirt in Navy and the Linen Polo. Have you tried any linen pieces from Banana Republic lately? I'm curious to know what you think of them.

The Turquoise Clara Linen Short Sleeve Shirt is currently on sale for $69.99 plus an extra 20% off at checkout. I've worn this to the office underneath a Lululemon wrap and received compliments on the outfit.

also wearing Athleta's Seasoft Straight Pant Size Petite XS

It's been a minute since I bought anything from Banana Republic, but I'm so pleased with these linen tops that I will be going back for more. I think I need a small linen wardrobe for summer. That's it for me! Hope you all have a fabulous Monday and stay cool!

  1. I just love wearing linen in the summer and all those pieces fit you so well. I'd love to try the Palma linen shorts but they're sold out in beige in my size. The green is gorgeous though. If you wouldn't mind doing a fit review on them, that'll help me decide if I should get them. Thank you, Cindy

    1. Hi Cindy! I did consider those shorts, but wasn't sure since they're fairly expensive and also dry clean only. =T They are really cute. I'm in between sizes 0 and 2. I will try the 2 petite and hope it fits. Thanks!

  3. Hi Leslie,
Thanks for the fit review and all the pieces look good on you! I’m very interested in the Classic Linen Shirt (blue stripes) but sadly it is sold out in my size. :(((((

I love wearing linen in summer, both tops and bottoms. Never tried linen items from Banana Republic but I have a few linen pieces from MUJI, Roots, ZARA and GAP. They have pretty much the same few feel.

My mom thinks I’m crazy but I never iron my linen pieces cos they are going to wrinkle in no time anyway! :DDD

    1. Hi Andrea! Linen is starting to grow on me. I think I need to try some bottoms next. Your mom is so funny! I do find they wrinkle easily but the steamer really helps. I can't wear it right out of the dryer lol.

    2. I just line dry them, Leslie, and honestly it’s not that bad lol.

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
