Fit Request Friday! Dance Studio Mid-Rise Cropped Pant & Softstreme High-Rise Short 4" Plus Major Sales This Weekend!
Happy Fit Request Friday! I don't know why I waited so long to review the Dance Studio Mid-Rise Cropped Pant, because they are amazing. I'm so glad these were requested for a fit review. There's also a lot of sales happening! Athleta has some major markdowns and new items added, Rothy's is having their Friends & Family sale, and my favorite Mooncat nail polish is having their 20% off Lunar sale. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon bottoms, but I realize the older I get, the more I prefer comfort over something to be fitted and I sized up in both items in my review.

Allbirds Tree Dasher Relay Calm Teal Size 5.5
I sized up for comfort and I'm wearing a size 6. I actually really like the looser fit and to my surprise, these are double lined! Since Bone is a lighter color I was worried they would be see-through, but they're totally opaque. Since they are double lined, they're medium weight and probably better for a cool day and not for warmer temperatures. They're probably much too hot for Atlanta summers, which is a bummer. However I think they would be perfect for spring and fall. The length is perfect for my petite frame. They measure 24.5 inches long. My preferred inseam is 25 inches, so these are pretty much perfect.
I love the waistband drawstring and there's also a cinchable hem to customize your look and fit. This is where I think it doesn't work well for petites. The pants are supposed to hit at the calf, but as I'm petite, these are full length on me. The cinchable hem doesn't do anything for me in terms of looks. Just kind of looks weird in my opinion. I'm fine with these being full length. I'm just happy they fit!
These pants are mid-rise which I love. Most of you know I'm not a huge fan of high-rise. I just find it so uncomfortable. Sometimes if possible, I will just pull the pant lower so it sits underneath my belly button and sometimes that works.
The Dance Studio pants are made of Swift fabric, they're swishy on the outside but the lining is soft cotton on the inside. I think they're really comfortable and I will be keeping these. I do wonder if the other colors are double-lined or if only the lighter colors are? Can anyone confirm?
Before I get into the next review, I have to give a shout out to Alo Yoga's Muse Hoodie. I have a full review coming but since they are on sale for $75, I just want to mention this top is super soft and very comfortable. It's cropped, but not super cropped and I purchased it in XS. I highly recommend it!
I've been eyeing the Softstreme High-Rise Short 4" for a while now and decided to try them before they sold out. I am wearing a size 6 and they are very comfortable. The inseam measures 4 inches long and they hit mid-thigh. They are a bit wide in the thigh but I think what bothers me more is how thin my calves and ankles look with my sandals. 😅 I inherited my mom's legs and I really should try and bulk up my ankles or something. I probably should have worn my Allbirds with these shorts. I noticed the model is wearing quarter length socks with sneakers, is that a thing now? I never wear quarter length socks with shorts because I feel like that makes my legs look cut off, but with my super thin ankles I am rethinking it. 😂
What makes these shorts so comfortable is the Softstreme fabric. I am in love with how comfy they are. I think sizing up makes them look a little more lounge-y, but I'm all for it. I love the deep pockets.
The waistband is stretchy and has a shock cord to customize your fit. What do you think of these shorts? The price is steep at $78. I feel like the Dance Studio Mid-Rise Cropped Pant are a steal at $88. But Softstreme fabric really is my favorite. I'm so torn!

DeleteI love the Dance Studio line! The crops hit me in a weird spot, so I prefer the joggers and don't find them too long. I also appreciate the mid-rise fit. Only the lighter colors are lined!

DeleteWow, can't believe you don't love your pretty ankles! In my family, the thinner the ankle, the shapelier the leg - as opposed to stocky, shapeless "stovepipe" legs. lol!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Haha, it is funny how we all perceive things differently. I guess I need to rethink it? I don't think there's much I can do to bulk my ankles up besides hiding them with socks! Thank you, I guess I have to look at them from your perspective!
DeleteI love those dance studio crops on you! Unfortunately Idk my sizing in those anymore. I have and old pair in a 2 that fits perfectly but I recently tried Roasted Brown in a 2 and it was a bit tight but the 4 was way too loose in the waist and hip. I'll have to try these on in store to know.

I find my narrow ankles are a blessing with ankle length pants (I have to shorten them of course). But when I tried on chunky platform loafers they looked ridiculous… like cement blocks on my feet. Haha! You look great in the sandals! - Diane
