Review! Coach Tabby Messenger 19 Burnished Amber

Happy Friday! I can't believe April is right around the corner. My husband has Covid right now. He brought it back from his High School reunion trip to New York. I'm taking care of him and also trying not to catch it from him. 😳 I'm typing this up as fast as I can while I still feel okay.

Apologies in advance for not having my usual mod shots (completely forgot and then I shipped the bag back by the time I remembered), but I did include one at the bottom, a mirror selfie which isn't the best.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

This is Coach's Tabby Messenger 19 in Burnished Amber with silver hardware. On Coach's website it's labeled as "From The Runway", so of course I had to order it to see what it's all about! This bag comes in three sizes. The 19 is the mini, then there's the regular Tabby Messenger , and then the largest size, the Tabby Messenger 40 which is ginormous. Are big bags making a comeback? As I removed the packaging from the bag, I noticed the vegetable-tanned leather was already marked with small scratches. You can already see one scratch at the back of the bag- on the right side. The leather is easily marked and that's the nature of this type of leather and something to consider when buying this bag. I am on the side that imperfections gives the bag character and shows your history with the bag. Others, however want their bags to look pristine for as long as possible. Which side are you on?

Coach hang tag.

The clasp is a pushlock closure. There is a signature C logo on the front of the bag encircled with silver hardware. There is contrast stitching which I personally love. The color Burnished Amber is a gorgeous shade of brown with a hint of orange. It's deeply saturated and definitely a color you can wear year round.

The quality is superior and so well made which is one of the reasons why I love Coach bags. The back of the bag has a magnetic slip pocket that is too snug to fit an iPhone, but you can easily slip receipts, cash, and other small items.

The leather itself looks gorgeous, but it does feel slightly stiff to me, likely because it's also a very structured and sturdy bag, but it didn't have the buttery feel that I prefer. I am a very tactile person and this kind of leather didn't do it for me, which is very surprising because I tend to love Coach leathers.

The strap is adjustable and does fit my petite frame nicely, I have it on the shortest setting when I tried it on and the bag hit at my hip. There is also an outside snap pocket and the interior is spacious for such a small bag.

The dimensions are 7" in length, 5.25" in height and 2.5" deep.

The inside of the bag is lined with microfiber and it feels very much like suede.

Slip pocket on the inside.

The bag itself holds all of my everyday essentials. Please check out my video for more in-depth detail.

The model is probably close to 5 feet 10 inches tall and then there's me at 4 feet 11 inches. The bag does look a lot bigger on me. It looks like a normal sized purse. 😂 I ended up returning this bag even though I loved the design and the color. I just didn't love how the leather felt underneath my hands. If it was the buttery soft leather, I would have kept it.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a fresh start to another month. Here's to a fabulous April!

  1. That is such a beautiful bag! But I agree, if it is not perfect for you, return it. I don’t think we should buy/keep things that aren’t perfect for us. And that is especially true for Coach bags which have definitely risen in cost.

Hope you are able to avoid Covid!

    1. Hi there! Yes, Coach has gone up in price over the years. This one is $495 which isn't terrible. But money I can save or spend elsewhere on something I really love.

So far, I am hanging in there. Keeping my fingers crossed!

  2. You don’t think the leather will soften with use? —Cindy

    1. Hi Cindy, it's possible but I think it would take a long time for that to happen. I don't have the patience for it. It's also a very sturdy bag that will likely keep its shape, so that's another reason I think it will take a very long time.

  3. hi Leslie! I hope your husband is feeling better and you are staying well! The Coach bag looks nice, but it's good to be picky and only keep what we really love. I want to thank you for your review on the Transcend stash straight leg pants. The Transcend slim pants fit the same. I typically wear size 4 for Lulu leggings and size S petite was the right fit for me. I couldn't be happier for the price--$39! The quality of the fabric and stitching are top notch!

    1. Hi Karen! DH is still sick but so far I feel okay! Ohhhh glad you love the Transcend Slim Pant. I am really happy with the two pairs I have. Love the feel, I think they are better than Lulu Aligns these days. Especially for the price! What a good deal you got! Amazing.

  4. Thanks for the review of the purse. Just from the photos, the quality of the leather looks great. Although, not sure if it’s worth almost $500. Good call on returning when you didn’t live it.

    1. Hi Jean L! It is a bit small for the price, but the quality is there. I have so many purses that I really have to love it to keep it in my collection.

  5. Great extensive and thorough review. Could you tell me if you have the strap on the shortest hole? I am also a Shorty at 5’1 and just trying to gauge how short or long it would be on me Crossbody wise. Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi there, thanks! And yes, I have it on the shortest setting. I'm 4 feet 11. Hope that helps!

    2. Yes it definitely helps. I appreciate your feedback. I am still debating because the strap is not detachable and I like the ability to change from crossbody to shoulder. First world problems lol God bless :)

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
