Fit Review! Boxy Knit T-Shirt and Relaxed-Fit High-Rise Knit Cropped Pants 24"

Brace yourselves! This post is very image heavy. Since these Lululemon pieces are more on the expensive side, I wanted to show as many details as I can to help anyone who may be thinking about purchasing the knit items.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

Up first is the Boxy Knit T-Shirt in Bone. I'm wearing size XXS and it fits perfectly. If you're normally a size 2 or a 4 in Lulu tops, the XXS should work. The length hits at my hip and the fit is slightly boxy which you can see from the side profile photo. The neckline is fairly small, but not too tight. The color Bone is a lovely neutral and easy to wear.

The fabric itself is not as soft as I hoped for. It feels a little on the stiff side. It's very different from anything I've felt from Lulu. It's also made of 100% recycled polyester which made me do a double take because the price for this top is $98. I don't think the price is worth the fabric. Yes, the cut is amazing, but it doesn't feel luxurious. While it doesn't look it, the fabric is heavy and I'm not sure how it will fair in warmer weather.

I purchased the top in Nomad as well and I love the color. It's a medium brown with a hint of army green. It's also a fabulous neutral. Between the two colors (Bone and Nomad) it's really hard to pick a favorite.

I'm wearing the knit top with the Relaxed-Fit High-Rise Knit Cropped Pants in Black and I'm wearing size XS. These pants run large. The XS can fit up to a size 6. If you're normally a size 2 in Lululemon bottoms, you may be sized out. The length is quite perfect on my 4 foot 11 inch frame. They measure 24 inches long and hit right at my ankles. They look fabulous with my Rothy's Drivers and I love the stripe detail at the hem.

I'm wearing the matching top and bottom in Nomad for a monochrome look. I'm pairing it with my new Rothy's Drivers in Latte and it's close to the same color family as Nomad. I love the casual laid back vibe of this monochrome outfit.

The price of the Relaxed-Fit High-Rise Knit Cropped Pants 24" is $148. However, when I received it in the mail, the tag says $172! 😳 I'm already on the fence about these being $148 as it is. If they were $172, it would be a hard pass for me.

The fit is relaxed and I do think I could wear these to the office. The fabric is similar to the matching top in that it has a heavy feel. The pants are on the stiff side but I do think they will soften up with use.

The waist is supposedly high-rise, but I have them sitting just below my belly button which is my preferred rise. The waist is stretchy and very generous and because of that, it's very comfortable.

The only thing I didn't like about these pants are the thick seam that hits right around my knee cap. It's slightly below the knee and I can feel it. I can't decide if it's a deal breaker for me because I pretty much love everything else about these pants! It's hard to see on the black pair, but on the Nomad you can easily the seam in the close up photos here.

Just a few more photos of how I would wear this to the office. I think if you throw a cardigan or blazer over the top, it would be perfect. I'm still debating on whether to keep or return these pieces. The price is just so high, I am finding it hard to justify keeping them. If I do keep one or two pieces, I am leaning towards keeping the bottoms. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below!

That's it for me! Hope you all have a great start to the last week of March!

  1. I think I could ignore the feel of the seam, but I don't like the look of that seam. For that reason, I would go for the black. But then again, I like the bone and nomad color combo. Ah, I'm no help. Maybe for $148, you shouldn't have to feel an annoying seam. I'm going with sending both the pants back.

    1. Haha! Thanks for your input, it's the same as how I feel, and it's nice to see that you're helping me decide with a definitive vote!

  2. I think the pants in Nomad are really nice on you, but I don't think you should keep them if you're going to find that seam irritating. They're too pricey to be just "okay". I like the top on you too, but I don't think it's special enough to justify the price of it - I vote to send it back and wait for markdown :)

Thank you for the review on both of those - I was very curious about them!

    1. Hi Lola! Thanks for your input. Looks like two for two- voting for return. I would definitely purchase on markdown. Hopefully it will hit WMTM. Thanks!

  3. I feel pants should not have distractions that chop your leg apart. That big seam and the stripe of color at the bottom are distractions that widen your slim legs. For that reason, I’d return both pairs of pants.

    1. Thanks! Yeah the knee seam is worse, I don't mind the ankle stripe. I think that's kind of neat looking, especially on the black pair. 3 for 3! Definitely returning now. Thanks!

  4. I agree with all the comments. The seam at the knee combined with the side seam stopping at that point is weird. Why did they do that. It's like they were making Bermudas and then changed their minds. Not as noticeable in the black, but still. All the pieces are kind of boring for the very high price. They look a little like government issued clothing in a post apocalyptic regime. Not sure where Lulu is going with their design these days. Hoping Summer brings us better colors and designs.

    1. Your comment made me LOL! Same here, price is so high for something fairly boring and made out of polyester. I am hoping to see more Twilight Rose and Tidal Teal for spring/summer.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
