Fit Review Friday! Softstreme Ribbed Hem Pullover, Thick Fleece Zip Hoodie, Reversible Double Knit Zip Up Sweater

Happy Friday! We made it through another week. I'm actually excited for the Athleta Sale going on this weekend (11/11-11/13) for ICON members. 30% off Sweatshirts, tights, and outerwear. Use code SHOPFIRST. Which means that as long as there are no exclusions I'm going to re-order the Keys Velvet Luxe Puffer for the extra discount. Today, I have a Lululemon fit review for you guys!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

I decided to give this Softstreme top a try after Lola mentioned she really liked hers in Faint Lavender. I debated between Faint Lavender and black for a bit and eventually decided black would get more use. The Softstreme fabric feels amazing as usual. The top itself is more on the casual side even with the fitted band at the waist. It's a slightly elevated sweatshirt with stylish 7/8 length sleeves. It's a very comfortable casual top that would be great for everyday loungewear to weekend brunch. I'm wearing my usual size 4 and find it to be true to size.

This top is still slightly too casual for me to wear to my office. I work for a very conservative company and this just looks too much like a sweatshirt. Next, we have the Thick Fleece Zip Hoodie. My husband immediately said it looks very flattering on me with the tapered waist.

also wearing Athleta Venice Jogger Abalone Gray Size PXS

The official name for this hoodie is appropriate. The fleece really is thick, however I wish it was softer. The hoodie feels a bit stiff, mainly because of how thick it is. This is a cropped hoodie, with the length hitting slightly lower than my belly button. Fitted at the waist, but very loose at the shoulders, back, and arms. I'm wearing a size 2. This definitely runs large.

I don't dislike how it looks from the back but I don't love it. I don't even mind the bat wings, but I feel there's just too much excess fabric around the upper arms. On the plus side, there's plenty of room and no arm restrictions.

The pockets also sit very high up.

Holy Bat Wings!

I'll agree with my husband that it does look flattering, however the stiff fabric just wasn't comfortable. I also felt slightly out of my comfort zone with how cropped it is. I think I prefer longer tops and hoodies these days. Must be my older future self talking. 😅

Last but not least, we have the Reversible Double-Knit Zip-Up Sweater, which I totally forgot to take photos of the reverse side. 😂 But trust me, I took photos of the better looking side and that's what counts.

This is a medium weight sweater. I sized down in this as well. I'm wearing size 2 and found that it's still loose and comfortable. The sleeves are quite long, but they actually don't bother me as much as I thought they would. I keep them pushed up and it works for me. I don't find that they slide down much. The merino-wool blend is super soft and not itchy at all. I wore it to the office and loved the fit and feel. Super comfortable sweater to throw on and it kept me warm without overheating.

I do wish it had pockets!

I had no issues with the zipper. It's currently on WMTM for $129. I haven't washed this yet, so I can't say how it will hold up, but so far I really like this zip-up sweater.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I'm glad you like the Softstreme Pullover. The shape of it is very flattering on you, and I quite like the black - the seams are more visible in the black than the lavender which I kind of like!

I really like the hoodie too, but if the fabric is stiff, I probably wouldn't wear it. I agree with you - comfort is becoming more important to me now as well :). I'm actually planning on doing a closet purge and getting rid of some of my less comfortable things.

The zip-up sweater is pretty cute. It reminds me of the Time To Thrive Jacket from a few years ago, except not so tight.

    1. Hi Lola! I am also going through my closet to weed out items I don't reach for anymore. It's the only way I can keep it manageable! I had the Time To Thrive Jacket and after I washed it, the sleeves were really tight. =( Hopefully that doesn't happen with this one.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Softstreme Pullover. I hope they release it in a couple of more colors.

    2. Leslie, listen to your husband he knows what he's talking about. Agree with him myself.

The hoodie looks very flattering. The baggy arms or batwings as you label them are needed for the style to work.
Consider the scuba tight fitted fabric along the arms. If the style and fit your reviewing was similar to the scuba in the arms, it would appear weird, as if your wearing too small of a size needing to go up for looser fit in the arms. This would appear odd as if wearing kids hoodie.

The baggy arms hoodie gives all the correct styling cues. As example with oversized sweat shirt. Only exception shorter length that is perfectly fitted to your slim female waistline and accentuates your beautiful curves.. The hoodie works in every aspect completely.

Only minor flaw i can see making you unhappy is the length of the sleeves might be little long for arms. Fabric tends to bunch up or become looser along the arms. Could you size down slightly without waistband pinching or shoulders chest being to uncomfortably tight?
Will the length of the sleeves make much difference sizing down?
Otherwise the hoodie is keeper envy your choose great color and fit, designed perfectly.
Refreshing style rather the bland oversized baggy sweatshirts or hoodies often styled by females for full coverage upon the hips which is way too modest to be worn with the likes of your pretty physique..

    3. Hi Mack! Ahhhh you and my husband are totally making me rethink it. It does accentuate the hourglass figure making it look very flattering, I don't deny it. I'll try it on again and see how I feel. I kind of wish it wasn't so thick and stiff lol. The sleeves are a little long, but I think sizing down to a 0 would be too tight in the waistline. It might be okay in the shoulders still but I think the 2 is the right fit. I'll think about it!!

  2. hi Leslie! Thanks for another great review! The Softstreme Ribbed-Hem Pullover looks so good on you! The length is perfect and the ribbed hem is very flattering! I think it's my favourite out of the three items! Did you end up buying anything with Athleta's early Black Friday sale? I couldn't resist the price and ordered the Seasoft Wide Crop Pant. Hopefully the length will not be awkward on me. Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! Thank you! I think it's going to be one of my favorite tops from Lulu. I did re-order the Keys Puffer Jacket for the extra discount. I'm still eyeing a couple of other Athleta pieces but they're at 20% off, I'm hoping for 25% or more before I pull the trigger. Maybe there will be a deeper discount when it's closer to Black Friday. Crossing my fingers!

  3. I was so curious about that sofstreme ribbed hem pullover! Thanks for reviewing it! It looks so good on you. I think the Thick Fleece zip up is the perfect crop length on you but the bat wings are a bit much. I think it's worth it on markdown to have a style like this. The reversible zip sweater looks like such a nice sturdy knit but I do wish it had pockets. I'm excited about your AllBirds code! Which shoe style is your all time favorite for everyday?

    1. Hi Janessa! Hmmm, maybe it would be better to wait for markdown on the bat wing hoodie. =)

I would say for everyday my favorite has been the Tree Dasher 2 and the Tree Dasher Relay. The code also works on sale items too!

  4. Thanks for the great reviews! The Softstreme Pullover looks much more put together than the POCC, and I like that it's fitted at the bottom and won't let cold air in. I think I would prefer if it had long sleeves, though. I might pick one up if it hits WMTM.

    1. Hi LZ! I definitely liked it more than I thought it would. I wore it over the weekend for date night and it was easy wear with straight leg pants and a jacket to elevate it. I would love to see this released in long sleeve version as well. Hoping for more colors!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
