Review! Adidas Adizero X Allbirds - Lightest Running Shoe?

Did everyone have a nice relaxing weekend? I've been trying to downsize my closet and listed a few items on Poshmark. It is SO hard to pick things out, much harder than I expected to be honest. I will keep trying throughout the month to minimize. I did mange to sell my last pair of Speed Ups! I also found out I need to work on my cardio fitness. According to the VO2 Max chart for women, I fall in the average category for my age. I'll be listening to 'Running Up That Hill' while literally trying to get up some hills. 😅 This also means my Adizero's will be getting a lot more use, which brings me to this review.

Earlier this year, Allbirds teamed up with Adidas to create a super lightweight running shoe that only uses 2.94 kilograms of carbon emissions to produce. That's very low considering my other Allbirds are around 10 kg CO2e.

Adizero X Allbirds Semi-Turbo Size 5

I purchased these a few months ago and ordered size 5.5 from Allbirds (my usual size), however when they arrived- I was sent a size 5. This actually worked out in my favor because these shoes run large. The size 5s are even slightly loose on me. Any bigger and I wouldn't be able to wear these at all. The second thing I noticed is how incredibly lightweight the shoes are. They are by far the lightest shoe I have. They weigh a whopping 4.6 ounces.

The shoe laces are very thin and delicate. I am not sure about the longevity of these laces, only time will tell. However, I do appreciate the thin laces because they are not cumbersome.

The tongue feels like thin foam and kind of cheap to be honest. The rest of the shoe is thin and reminds me of canvas. The midsole is firm with just a little bit of bounce. I would say it feels like a neutral running shoe.

I'm only a casual runner. I run 2 times a week and about 2-3 miles each time. I also only run on the treadmill. It's just too hot in Atlanta and not enough continuous sidewalks to be running outside. The soles are smooth but there are wide cut outs that eliminates any slipping.

Carbon footprint is labeled on the midsole.

Allbirds and Adidas are really trying to be sustainable and environmentally friendly with these shoes. They were shipped in a cardboard box without any inserts. The box wasn't even lined with any tissue paper. They are very serious about keeping waste to a minimum and I fully applaud that. These shoes are made with at least 25% recycled materials.

So far, I haven't had any issues with the quality of these shoes even though they are quite thin. It'll be interesting to see how many miles I can put on them without any holes forming. I do hope they will hold up. These cost $120 a pair. It definitely seems pricey for how thin these are. There isn't much padding around the foot at all which may be a good thing if your feet run hot. If you're looking for a lightweight running shoe for short runs, these should work just fine. I wouldn't recommend these for long distance runs just because of how thin these shoes feel.

Do you have a pair? Let me know what you think of them! That's all for me today. It's another new week. Hope everyone has a great Monday! Let's make the best of it. 😀

  1. Thanks for the review, Leslie! I’m surprised to see how thin the material is and the shoes look a bit floppy to me. Not loving the shoe laces either and they do look kind of cheap. Hopefully they will hold up well. Andrea

    1. Hi Andrea! Same here. Luckily I have a few pairs of running shoes I can rotate so they should last a while!

  2. I LOVE mine and am considering ordering a back-up pair. I'm also a casual runner and typically only wear for very short runs or to Orange Theory - which is about 25 mins of interval running. They also function fine for the other half of OT - which are weights and rowing. I'm not sure how supportive they would be for longer runs, but the next-to-nothing weight just can't be beat! They feel like I'm wearing nothing and quickly replaced my Ultraboosts for runs.

    1. Hi LZ! I haven't tried them for weights but good to know! It is pretty amazing how light weight they are though. Every time I put them on, it's always astonishing to me. If you really love them, it would be worth to get a back up pair. Allbirds sold out of these shoes, but still available from Adidas.

  3. Thanks for the review, I've been eyeing them for awhile, but haven't managed to bring myself to buying them. I've seen a couple of people wear them. When you're running/walking, do they seem flimsy? I was observing the people wearing them and seeing them walk, the shoes look not too supportive in terms of ankle support/etc.

    1. Hi Jean! They actually don't feel flimsy when I'm wearing them. It feels supportive when I'm running and walking. You can tie the laces for a snug fit at the ankles. They're surprisingly comfortable, I just am not sure how long they will last. However, that said I'm a sneaker junkie so with the many pairs I have, I'm sure they will last a while since I have many to rotate through! I think they're worth giving a try just because of how light weight they are.

    2. Thanks for the info! I'll think about it b/c I also have too much stuff and really need to let go of things and not be a hoarder. So hard! Haha.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
