Happy July! I can't believe we're officially in the last half of 2022. For the month of July I will be focusing on strengthening my back muscles. Training my back has always been my weakest spot. Pulling weights is always hard for me and I get fatigued really fast. Hopefully by the end of this year I can do more than one pull up!
Let's get on with today's Fit Review Friday. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

I ordered my usual size 4 in the Softstreme Pocketed Hoodie. It's pretty loose in the chest and shoulder area, so I re-ordered it in a size 2. I'm still waiting for the size 2 to arrive, but when it does, I'll update you all on which one I'm keeping. I know a couple of you sized down, and I think that's probably the right call for me too.
The side and back view look fine, but the front definitely looks a little too sloppy for me. The sleeves are just slightly too long as well. The hood is on the larger side but I didn't find it to be too heavy. I did notice that the inside is lined with black and there are inside slip pockets as well. On the outside, the Softstreme feels soooo buttery and smooth, I've decided it's my favorite fabric. I love it even more than the Align fabric. 😅
How cute are these Aviator Nation Jogger Shorts?! I was walking around Avalon a couple of weekends ago, and saw this tall leggy blonde wearing these amazing Aviator Nation board shorts and I had to immediately look them up. I did not like the price tag of the board shorts, so I went with the jogger shorts instead. They're a bit cheaper, but still expensive for shorts. I was hoping Aviator Nation would have a 4th of July sale with a 20% off coupon, so we'll see if that happens! If there is, I may be tempted to order some more. 😅

After reading reviews, I decided to size way up to a medium. I'm normally a size XS/Small in Aviator Nation but these look teeny tiny and I wanted a comfortable and casual fit. The medium turned out to be perfect. What's different about these shorts compared to any I've tried from Lulu, Athleta, etcetera, the leg opening has a very thin and super stretchy elastic. Even though I went up a size or two, the leg opening still hugs my thigh. I think that's a really cool feature and makes me feel more secure and confident that I'm not going to accidentally flash someone.
The inseam measures just under 3 inches in length. There is a small back pocket, but honestly it's just there for decoration. I wouldn't put anything in there. The fabric is super soft, just like their hoodies. Below, I am wearing it with Athleta's linen button down. See how that side slit just reveals the rainbow stripes? 💜💙💚💛

You’re way ahead of me… do you know how long it’s been since I could even do just one pull up?! I was a gymnast for 15 years and still have a lot of my muscle left but it’s mostly in my legs. I definitely need to focus on my back strength too. The joys of getting older, right?! Lol.

Hi JennyFromTheBlock! Yes, getting older is not fun in that sense. I feel like it's a lot harder to make strides and have to put in a lot more effort. It just doesn't come as easily as it did in my 30s.

Finally got the size 2. Looks like I am keeping the size 4. The 2 hits at a weird place and the band isn't as stretchy. The chest area fits better though.
Deletehi Leslie! That's great that you can do a pull-up! I don't think I can do one if I tried. It's good to have small attainable goals. I hope you'll be able to do more than one pull-up by the end of the year!

DeleteThe waistband on the size 4 fits nicely, not too tight. I just got the size 2 and the waistband is too tight and hits at a weird place on me, so I will be keeping the size 4 after all, but it's good I tried both sizes to see.
Good to know. I think size 4 will be a good choice for me too then. I kinda doubt this hoodie will make it to WMTM, but if it does, I will try to make it mine!

With the elastic hem as you amusingly mentioned, no worries gust of wind to raise the leg hem flap for sudden flash. Lol.... Funny..
Wearing snug fitted shorts in small might look little better in backside. As long you feel comfortable in medium it works also difference might be negligible..
Hi Mack! That's the only downside to the shorts, no build in liner. If they did have a built in liner I would be living in them for sure and wear them for workouts.

Agreed, the medium is a little loose on the butt, but not horrible, I think if I sized down the waist wouldn't be as comfortable.
