Fit Review Friday! Athleta Salutation Stash Pocket 5" Short, Playa Linen Shirt, Avenue Wide Leg Crop Pant

Happy Friday! And how is it already June! The year is almost halfway over. 😬 I'm not sure how I feel about it. Remember when it was January and it was the start of the new year? I want that kind of excitement at the beginning of every month! This is a reminder that the year may be halfway over but there's still time to hit your goals (if you made any this year). Today I have for you another Athleta fit review!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically size XS/PXS in Athleta. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

I'm not usually a fan of pockets on shorts, but I really wanted to try these out to see how they compare to Lulu's Align Shorts. Athleta's Powervita fabric feels soft and buttery but without the naked sensation. They're actually slightly compressive. Athleta describes the feeling as a gentle hug, but I guess I'm overly sensitive because I definitely wasn't a fan! Also I found these shorts to run small. I actually went up a size in these and while they fit, they still felt too snug. The waistband is high-rise and almost covers my bellybutton completely. I do find these to be a flattering fit with the 5 inch inseam. However, back they went.

also wearing Ebb To Street Crop Tank Size 6

Now that it's summer, I can't wear my hoodies when I go out in the Atlanta heat. However, I don't feel comfortable leaving my house in just a tank or short sleeve. I've reached that point in my age where I need to have a thin layer with long sleeves for air conditioned establishments. The Playa Linen Shirt is the perfect solution. The fabric is lightweight linen and feels a little on the stiff side which I think is the only flaw. I would prefer it to be softer linen, but then it might not last as long in the wash so I can't complain too much.

Fit is oversized, so definitely size down. It's also slightly boxy but I love the look. From the back it does look a little wrinkly, but that is the nature of linen. I personally think it adds a nice visual texture. I've been wearing it over my tanks and shorts and I think it looks very flattering. I am keeping an eye out for more colors, would love for this to be released in a chambray blue shade. It's currently available in white and tawny rose. The white looks to be too see-through for me.

Last but not least, we have the Avenue Wide Leg Crop Pant that Andrea convinced all of us to try! 😁

also wearing Aviator Nation Boyfriend Tee Size Small

I'm wearing size 0 Petite which is my usual size for Athleta bottoms. I found this to be true to size with a mid-rise waist. The fabric is super lightweight with a little bit of stretch. It's very comfortable and will keep you cool in the warmer months.

The length measures 23" long and they hit at my ankles. Great with a casual tee, or can be dressed up as well. I prefer the waistband to sit right underneath my belly button. I think that's the sweet spot for me. I totally would have kept these, but they are too similar to another pair I have from Athleta from a couple of years ago.

Love the adjustable drawstring and two back pockets!

From today's haul I kept the Playa Linen Shirt and returned the rest. That's it for me! Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. Hi Leslie, about the Athletica 5" shorts thought you wrote previous post they sold out. Looks good on you. Not fan of the outer thigh seam or pockets in fitted style of shorts. Taking it back assume it wasn't to your standards low on the waist, folding it over wasn't option since the pocket males the fabric thick to be comfortable.

Own old pair deep burgundy crops 17" from Athleta at the time liked the rich color other brands didn't have or sold out. The fit lost it's elasticity or just to tight at the hips but loose at the waist always needing to hike them up. Athleta crops compared favourite Aligns no contest, but much close, thicker fabric of wunder unders back in the day. Although still feel WU better stay in place then my Athleta crops.

Love the rose color linen shirt. I'm sure Atlanta humidity will keep the fabric from wrinkling, Lol..Natural steam dryer.

Can't resist but add another link of 4" shorts with pockets and outer seam much like Athleta you reviewed.

Already bought the bronze 4" shorts now contemplating another in Caramel red. Own leggings in that color..Hmmm decisions...decisions. Summer will be over before i ever decide. Lol

    1. Hi Mack! Yes the Salutation Shorts are too tight in the waist to be able to fold it over.

I actually really enjoyed Lululemon's Align Crops back when they made it in the 19" length. The 17" length is also a great option but to me the high-rise feels higher than usual even though it doesn't say super high-rise. I might have to give the 17" Align another try to make sure it's still the case. Too bad they don't have any good colors offered right now.

Atlanta is very steamy in the summer, so yes that's true - natural steamer!!

Ice gray looks really good in the 4" short with pockets that you linked. But yeah not a fan of the seams on it.

  2. Thanks for another great review, Leslie! Now that you’ve turned me into an Athleta fan, I really appreciate more fit reviews on new items! :D

I’ve been eyeing the linen shirt for a while but the price is a bit too high in my opinion. There are similar items in the market, eg, from GAP, at a more affordable price. I have to say though that Tawny Rose is my favorite color and it makes everything look good! :D

I’m glad you did a fit review on the Avenue Wide Leg Pant. I’ve been wearing it quite often lately now that the weather is warmer, and it’s so breezy and comfy. Should’ve got it in Abalone Grey as well but too bad both colors were completely sold out. The pant is on the expensive side probably because of all the nice design details which LLL products are lacking. I really don’t mind paying a bit more for for the special details.

Time certainly flies and I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend, Leslie!

    1. Hi Andrea! Glad you're liking the Athleta reviews! It took forever for Athleta to arrive in Canada. The Linen shirt is a little pricey, I try and always wait until there's a 20% off coupon I can use. That way it's a little more palatable.

Happy to hear you're enjoying the Avenue Wide Leg Pant. There's always a chance it will be restocked in the Abalone Grey, or maybe Athleta will release more colors!

  3. I like the Athleta 5" shorts on you but too bad they're compressive! I never wear my WT shorts for that reason unless I'm out of my Aligns! I did get a size up on WMTM to try... I got my first Loungeful Crew in Mineral Blue! I sized up one from 2 to a 4 and I'll let you know how I like it if I get it in the mail D,: ....still sad about my Milkshake HHHR Shorts being lost

    1. Hi Janessa, yep I do not have any WT in my collection for that same reason. =D

Ohhhh let me know what you think of the Loungeful Crew. I am tempted to get the hoodie in the White Opal. It looks super cozy but just too hot right now!

I am sad for you! Definitely feel your pain!

    2. I want the White Opal hoodie too! I am undecided on a 2 or 4... probably 4 for a looser fit since I usually wear XS in other brands.

    3. When I tried the Loungeful Crop I went with the 4, so I think I would stick with that. I really liked the fit, it was just right and cozy!

  4. hi Leslie! The Playa Linen Shirt looks great in Tawny Rose! I agree the shirt will look very nice in Chambray Blue too. The Avenue Wide Leg Crop Pants are so nice for warmer days. I love the lightweight fabric and the waistband is very comfortable. Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! I really want Athleta to release it in a blue shade!! Pleeeeeeease! Thanks =D

    2. I hate to admit it, but I didn't love the Avenue Wide Leg Crop Pants, and I ended up returning them! They were super comfy, but I found the wide leg a little too wide for me and I felt like I looked like I was drowning in them. I didn't like how the outline of the pockets were really noticeable in the abalone color too. I like how the black ones look on you though! I ended up going for the Studio Wide Leg Pant instead and I love them. I think the full length combined with the width of the leg suits me better.

Hope you had a good weekend!

    3. Hi Lola! I agree, sometimes the lighter colors are see-through. It's one of the reasons why I hesitate getting the lighter colors from the Brooklyn line.

The Studio Pants are cute, I ended up going with the Release Pant which has a similar waistband. I actually wore them today. I have them in black and debating if I want them in Tawny Rose for summer.

  5. I say go for those Tawny Rose Release pants! I recently got the Brooklyn Pant in Tawny Rose, and I'm finding that color quite versatile. White Opal looks really good with it, in my opinion.

    1. Ohhhhh yes, that does sound like a pretty combination! I will wait for another 20% off coupon and order them. I've actually kind of eyeing them in the Brooklyn Ankle pant too. Thanks!!

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
