Fit Request Friday! Back In Action Short Sleeve T-Shirt Nulu, High Neck UV Protection Zippered Romper, Athleta Brooklyn Short!

Happy Friday! I know, I need a haircut. I'm getting one this weekend. 😆 I try and get a haircut every seven to eight weeks and it still manages to grow a decent amount in such a short time. Today, I have a fit request for the High Neck UV Protection Zippered Romper in Magenta Purple. It's totally not my style, but I will always do my best to show how something looks and fits on a petite person. I know how frustrating it is to see models measuring 5 foot 8 inches tall and it's hard to picture how it might look on someone that's 5 foot even.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms. I also wear size PXS/Petite 0 in Athleta.

also wearing Athleta Brooklyn Short Black Size 2

I really wanted to try the Back In Action Short Sleeve T-Shirt Nulu and when I saw it was released in Lunar Rock, I gave in. I went with my usual size 4 since the sleeves looked to be on the fitted side. My arms are not thin, I would say they're average in size. As you can see in the below photos, there's a little bit of room in the size 4, but I think it would have been very fitted if I sized down to a 2. I prefer the loose fit in sleeves, especially for summer. Otherwise, the body is oversized in that easy-breezy casual look.

The fabric is Nulu and I love how soft it feels. The back has a beautiful drape. The length is a little long, and covers the bum completely which I prefer if I'm going to pair it with Align shorts.

The next few photos how you can pair this top with different bottoms for different looks. I could totally see myself wearing this to the office with the front tucked in. There is a lot of extra fabric in the back and while it IS possible to tuck all of it in, it will look a little lumpy. This can be easily remedied if you wear a blazer or long cardigan over it.

Here I am wearing it with Athleta's Brooklyn Short in Black. It almost looks like a skirt from the front, but they are indeed shorts.

Here's a closer look at Athleta's Brooklyn Short in Black. I sized up in these for a looser fit. For Brooklyn Ankle Pants, I prefer my usual size 0 Petite.

The waistband sits right underneath my belly button. The inseam measures 4 inches long and they hit my mid-thigh. The fabric is Featherweight Stretch which is the same as their Brooklyn Pant. It feels very airy and comfortable. There are two front pockets and two back pockets. I think I'll get a lot of use out of these over the next couple of months.

Last, but not least we have the High Neck UV Protection Zippered Romper in Magenta Purple. This is a fit request and while I normally wouldn't purchase a bright color like this, the black was already sold out in most sizes. Magenta Purple it is. 😂

Size 4 was also sold out in Magenta Purple. I opted to try size 2 in hopes the relaxed fit would give me a little extra room. Turns out, I was right! The fabric feels cool to the touch and almost silky in that polyester way. It's also very lightweight. The front zipper makes it super easy to put on and take off. However, I'm still not a fan of having to pull this down to my knees to go to the bathroom, but that's just me. 😅

The sleeves are 7/8 lengths on my petite frame, which I kinda love. The inseam measures four inches long and I was surprised at how flattering it was. There is an adjustable drawcord at the waist. I have it adjusted to the largest setting. If I was any bigger I'd need a size 4. I was also surprised how well the torso fit on my frame. That may be because it's a size 2 and not a size 4. If I ordered my usual size, I think there would have been extra fabric around the waist.

Here are a couple of photos to show how the waistline looks.

Close up photos of the drawcord.

Overall, if you're a fan of rompers, I think this one is petite friendly. I like that the sleeves are not too long and you can push them up for a casual look. I like that there are front pockets and the front zipper is a plus. It's a comfortable piece and can be worn with tennis shoes. I do wish the neckline had a slight collar, maybe a quarter zip instead of a round crew neck, I think would have made it even better. Only downside is most sizes are already sold out, and there aren't many colors to choose from. It's a fun piece for sure!

In other news, Lulu released their Throwback Shape Jacket on the app today. It's from Circa 2000 and way before I got into Lululemon so I don't even remember it. Who remembers this jacket?

That's it for me! Let me know what you think in the comments! Have a great weekend and stay cool!

  1. Thanks for the review! I love the back in action LS actually - very comfy flattering. I wear a sz 2 and think the sleeves aren't too tight (usually wear swiftly LS in sz 6, CRB in sz 4).

The romper has potential but the design is too plain. If it has some sorta cut out or if it's a skirt, I might go for it!

Did u find anything in WMTM today?

    1. Hi Blueberries! Yes, I am looking forward to wearing the Back in Action SS. It is super comfy. I did not get anything on WMTM, but I've spent enough on Lulu the past few weeks! =D

  2. I keep wanting to love the Back In Action, and have bought a couple of them, but they always tend to feel like they're choking me and then I want to sell them. Then I see someone looking cute in one, and I want to buy them all over again and repeat the cycle. *face palm*

    1. Hi Mockginger! Hmmm, I didn't notice the choking effect when I wore it for the photos, granted I only had it on for a short time but I will definitely wear it this weekend and will report back if it bothers me. =T

  3. Great reviews! I love the romper and was close to grabbing it in black, but since I would strictly wear it for UV protection, I wanted full-length sleeves and some sort of collar to protect the back of my neck.

    1. Hi LZ! If black was still in stock, I might have been tempted to keep it. I think it's pretty cute. I agree, wish it had a collar and a 1/4 zip in the front.

  4. I really like how the Back in Action top looks on you! Did you decide to keep it? I don’t care for tight or too high necklines and find myself pulling on them a lot so I will admire from afar. :)

    1. Hi JennyFromTheBlock! I did decide to keep it, but you're the second person to mention the neckline being bothersome so now I'm worried!

  5. Hi Leslie. I love the BIA SS on you. It looks better than on the models. And I love that color . I supposed the pima cotton version wouldn't drape as nicely because the dark red is on wmtm. It looks like a boat neck style so not sure why it's tight around the neck for some reviewers. The romper looks really cute on you too. I agree about the washroom thing but I like how the model wore the black one with the top down and tied around her waist. For a style like that, I would want a more neutral color.

    1. Hi there! I have not tried the pima cotton version. I would think there would still be a drape, but probably not as pretty. The romper is pretty cute! But I agree with you- a neutral color would be better.

  6. Lunar Rock back in action tee is perfect on you! I think the romper is pretty cute but I would find it annoying to use the bathroom in public and in general so I don't wear them.

    1. Hi Janessa! Yes, I was surprised at how much I like the Back In Action Tee. Will be wearing it to work as well.

  7. I really like that Back In Action Top on you! I bought a long sleeve one a while back and absolutely hated it, but maybe the short sleeve version would be better. I'm a sucker for Lunar Rock!

Also, those Brooklyn shorts are super cute! I immediately checked out Athleta's website, but I didn't care for the colors that were available.

Just received my Softstreme Hoodie - it came super fast! I adore it. I opted to size down, and I'm glad I did - the sleeves are a perfect length! I was worried that since it's Softstreme, the weight of the hood would choke me out, but it doesn't at all! I'm very happy with it, even though it was kind of pricey.

    1. Thanks Lola! Let me know if you try it the short sleeve version. Yes, unfortunately, Athleta only has three colors right now. The Borealis Green isn't bad, I kind of like it, but not sure if I can pull it off.

Can't believe you already got your Softstreme hoodie! Mine is still in transit. I think I'll probably get it by Monday. I wonder if I should have sized down. =T But glad you are happy with it!

  8. I also got the Softstreme Hoodie and agree with the above reviewer, I sized down as well and really like it! I like that it’s a zip hoodie since I appreciate having the freedom to zip it up or down with my aversion to high necklines.

    1. Hi JennyFromTheBlock! You got the Softstreme hoodie too?! So jealous, mine is taking forever. I wonder if I should have ordered the size down now. I guess I might be since you're the second person who said so!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
