Fit Review Friday! Athleta Retroplush Hoodie, Headlands Hybrid Trek Jogger, Balance Microfleece Sweatshirt

Happy Friday! We are closing in on the end of January and I am participating in Frugal February. Anyone else want to join me? I like to do this every 6 months to keep my shopping (and bank account) in check. Especially after the holiday shopping and post holiday sales I need a break. I will spend the entire month of February reflecting on the items I have bought in the last 6 months and what I can let go of. Don't worry, I still have a bunch of reviews coming up. Today I have a small Athleta haul and a fit request as well.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS and P0 in Athleta. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

I reviewed the Retroplush Hoodie a few months ago but when I saw it released in Tawny Rose I fell in love. This time I went up to size small for a looser fit. This hoodie definitely runs on the smaller side. If in doubt, I suggest sizing up.

This is my favorite shade of rose. The inside of this hoodie is lined with plushy fleece. Super cozy and warm. Besides the kangaroo pocket there are secret side pockets with zippers too!

Next up we have a fit request. More often than not, Athleta joggers fit me perfectly in size 0P. This pair of Headlands Hybrid Trek Jogger is one of those rare cases where I needed to size up. The pull on waistband has very little stretch and I could barely pull them over my hips. For those wondering my hips measure 34.5 inches. These fit very snug over my waist and there's a bit of muffin top going on here.

The side pockets when unzipped would not lay flat and they stuck out a bit. There's a chance sizing up would remedy this issue. The fabric feels a bit textured and has a swishy sound when walking but would hold up to wear and tear. I have to admit, these are very flattering and look great with my new Allbirds. The length in the petite sizing measure 27 inches. They bunch ever so slightly on me, but not bad looking since the ankles are tapered.

Check out my new Allbirds! These are the limited edition Staple Dashers that are slip on! They are sold out, but there's always a chance of a restock. Did you guys all notice the Tree Dashers have a new low price of $99?

Click on my link for a free pair of Trino socks with your purchase of shoes or apparel. Offer will automatically be applied at checkout if socks are added to your cart. Offer valid while supplies last.

Next up we have the Balance Microfleece Sweatshirt also in Tawny Rose. This is a light to medium weight hoodie. I did not realize that the outside of this zip up was micro fleece. I thought the fleece was going to be on the inside. As I love the Balance line I was so sure I would love this hoodie too, but I'm just not a fan of micro fleece on the outside of my clothes.

I'm wearing size Petite XS and this is a very generous fit. Slightly oversized but not overwhelming on my frame. If you're in-between sizes I would suggest sizing down. Or if you want a slimmer fit, size down as well.

Here is a close up of the micro fleece. I will admit, it feels very soft to touch. I'm just unsure of how it will hold up after washing and drying.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Thank you so much for those great reviews! I was eyeing that Tawny Rose color, but seeing it in your photos, I don't think it will be good for my skin tone (it looked a little more mauve to me on the Athleta website). The joggers are really cute, and I love your new Allbirds! I'm very excited the Tree Runners have dropped in price; I'm going to wait until there's a color released I can't resist before I add another pair to my growing collection!

I think I'm going to join you in your Frugal February. I think it's good to reassess spending habits, and my bank account needs a break!

    1. Hi Lola! Excellent, would love a group of us to participate in this challenge. We can commiserate together. =D

Tawny Rose is definitely more of a pink, no brown undertones at all. I do like a good saturated deeper pink color.

As for the Tree Dashers, I think Allbirds is going to discontinue this style and possibly make some changes / upgrade the shoe. These are probably going away for something new. And hopefully better!

    2. Hmmm, you're probably right about the Tree Dashers. That's too bad though; I really like them! Something new would be something to look forward to, however!

  2. I love the color of those hoodies. Ive been waffling on the POCC in Softstreme in Mulled Wine which is a similar color to the ones above. It's just ... I live in Texas and pretty soon, I wont need sweatshirts/pullovers/what-nots. I will probably cave but I am trying to hold out until Feb 1st (when my no buy January is over). ^_^

    1. February is just a few days away! Hold out until then, and if it so happens it is sold out in your size, then you can say you didn't need it anyway. =)

  3. hi Leslie! Tawny rose is more beautiful in your pics than the stock pics! The warm deeper pink is very flattering on your skin tone! Both the Retroplush and Balance Microfleece Sweatshirt fit you well! Are you going to keep either? I'm tempted to get something in Tawny rose, perhaps the Elation flare pant? I can see myself wearing them with platform sneakers and a Train To Be short sleeve or other cropped top.

    1. Hi Karen! I ended up keeping the pullover. It's so cozy on the inside. I love the Elation Flare Pant. What you just described sounds like the perfect outfit too.

    2. I think I prefer the pullover too! The Balance Microfleece Sweatshirt looks nice, but I prefer fleece on the inside and a cottony/smooth outer fabric. Have a great weekend!

  4. Thanks for doing the review on those joggers for me! They look great on you!

  5. Tawny Rose is so pretty. I love the hoodie more than the zip up! The fit is perfect on the hoodie! I've been preferring my hoodies and pullovers to be oversized lately

    1. Hi Janessa! I don't mind a slightly oversized fit either, but between the two I love the pullover more. I was surprised!

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
