Fit Review Friday! Define Jacket Velour, LA Cropped Long Sleeve Shrug, Non-Stop Bomber Jacket & Guest Review Hooded Radiant Jacket

Happy Friday! We're halfway into the month and Christmas is just 8 days away. I remember as a kid it would feel forever between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now the time between Halloween and Christmas feels like a few weeks. It's so mind boggling to me. Hope you're all ready, this is a pretty long post, so make yourself comfortable!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

also wearing Werkshop Athleisure Leggings Black Size Small

I couldn't pass up this gorgeous velour holiday edition Define Jacket. Plus it also has dark purple and gray colors which are my favorite shades to wear. I do see some hints of blue as well. It's definitely 90% purple to me though. The velour is so nice and soft to touch, I keep wanting to just pet the sleeves. Even though this jacket is fitted I would still say it is true to size because it does have a bit of stretch to it. I am only wearing an Ebb To Street Crop Tank underneath which is how I prefer to wear fitted jackets.

I think this jacket is versatile and can be worn even after the holidays. It's a little dark for spring but can be pulled off as a layering piece. I think it would look great with a White Opal colored vest.

I don't usually like anything snug around my neck, so I wouldn't wear it fully zipped up but would like to show the full jacket in all it's glory. It's slightly tight on me but it doesn't feel too tight because of the stretch. What do you think of this jacket? Is it a keeper? I'm honestly surprised this hasn't sold out. It's fully stocked! I think it's gorgeous in person. The photos on the website do not do it justice.

Next up we have the LA Cropped Long Sleeve Shrug in White Opal. It looked so good on the model I wanted to see if it was as cute in person. I sized down since it looked like a casual fit. I did roll up the cuff once in these photos since the sleeves are very long. From the front, the shoulders and arms are loose and not too flattering.

The side profile looks best but from the back, it's pretty awful. It has such a weird cut and I can't help but think this is something I would see at Target for $12.99. This is French Terry fabric and it is not soft at all. Not sure what Lululemon is thinking charging $88 for this! It looked like it had so much potential from the pics online. 😐

It's been a few years since I tried on the Non-Stop Bomber Jacket. If you're curious, here's my old review from 2017. I can't believe it's already been 4 years since I tried it on. I went with a size 2 but I think my shoulders have definitely gotten bigger with my new focus on upper body the past year and a half, so I should have stuck with my usual size 4 in this jacket. It's just slightly tight by the armpits. Stick to your normal size on this one.

This side is made of water repellent Glide fabric. It has some crinkled texture to it and feels a little papery.  I am a fan of the bomber jacket as it reminds me of the 80s and early 90s. 😅 This is a semi fitted jacket with a reversible puffer side. It's insulated with PrimaLoft and very lightweight. The color rover reminds me of Gray Sage. It's a green/taupe shade that I really love.

The reverse side reminds me of puffer jackets. I can't decide which look I like more? Maybe the puffer side just a teensy bit more than the bomber side. There is a slight sheen which I really like. It looks sharp. This is a light weight jacket and probably perfect for temperatures in the 50s if not layering.

Last but not least we have a special guest fit review from Andrea! She sent me these gorgeous photos of her wearing the updated Hooded Radiant Jacket in Cassis. Here are her comments.

"I’m 5’3” wearing a size 2. My first impression is that the fabric is softer and much lighter than the original Radiant Jacket and feels like the Scuba Light material. I’ve always found my Radiant Jackets to be a bit stiff and don’t mind the softer material. Just hope it’s just as warm.

They haven’t changed the fit much except that the neck is more fitted unlike the original funnel neck. When I put the jacket on, the sleeves did feel shorter than the original Radiant Jacket. I’ve placed the Hooded one on top of the original one for comparison. The body length stays pretty much the same.

Overall speaking, I love the soft feel and the fit of the Hooded Radiant Jacket. Cassis is gorgeous even though I wish it was more purple than burgundy. My only concern is color facing. I tend to stay away from dark sold colors cos they don’t stay as nice as the heathered ones after a few washes."

Thank you so much Andrea for your review and photos!

That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh Leslie you made me wanna get the Define Jacket Velour!!! Dark purple and gray - how tempting!!! I checked and they have all sizes available on the Canadian site. I never own a Define cos I’m in between sizes. 2 fits tight but 4 is a tad too loose. I read the review and the Velour version tends to run small so size 4 might fit. Decisions, decisions …

The shrug is comical. Just what were the designers thinking? … :D

Can’t believe Christmas is just 8 days away and 2021 is coming to an end. Thanks for your hard work, Leslie, and reading your posts making the pandemic more bearable! :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hi Andrea! Yes the velour does right a little tighter, I am debating if I want to try the 6 just to see. I just worry the sleeves would be much too long if I size up. If you try it, let me know what you think!

I appreciate your kind words! Here's to a better 2022!

  2. The velour looks so nice on you! Fits just right. Agree with you on the shrug. The back looks does have a weird cut. I really like the bomber on you. The puffer side and the color looks best. Very tempting, maybe it will pop up on wmtm.
Nice review on the new radiant jacket. Love the color. Looks great on you, Andrea!

I am pretty sure the Reversible Bomber will hit WMTM. Maybe even Boxing Day.

  3. Thanks for another great review! The Velour Define Jacket looks beautiful! I think you should keep it!

I agree with everyone that the shrug is an easy pass.

The Reversible bomber in Rover also looks good on you. When I saw the colour on Lulu's website, I felt indifferent about it, but the colour is very flattering on Asian skin tone. Now I'm tempted to get the ETS cropped tank in Rover...

Thank you, Andrea, for the fit review on the Hooded Radian jacket. Size 2 fits you perfectly! I thought this jacket would be too long for petites, but it fits you just right!

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

  4. Thanks Andrea for the review! I like the bomber jacket style but don't own any! I've just been wearing my Aritzia hoodies basically every day. The shrug is disappointing and the velvet define is super pretty but I don't wear fitted jackets lately

    1. I hope it's a good sale for Boxing Day. It will help make up for no Scuba Plush hoodies this year.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
