Fit Review Friday! Define Cropped Jacket & Lululemon Lab Waterproof Shell

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's December. As usual, holiday shipping means everything is arriving at a snail's pace. My Black Friday packages are slowly trickling in. I'm still waiting for one more package from Lululemon containing the WU High-Rise Crop Foil and In Alignment Bra. My order from Sunday night's surprise upload still hasn't shipped yet. Anyone else still waiting for their order to ship?

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

also wearing Athleta Triumph Jogger Size PXS

This cropped version of the Define Jacket with the stylish sleeves caught my eye. I'm wearing my usual size 4 in Define Jackets. (Side note - I do size up in the Hooded Define Jacket.) This jacket is very fitted around the shoulders and back. It is just a tad bit tight around my lats when zipped up. I would say this is true to size even so.

I knew the sleeves would likely be too long on my petite frame. As you can see there is extra fabric gathered along the wrist cuffs. One reader suggested to fold the cuffs up and I did find that helped with the appearance but didn't look as sleek around the thumbholes. This jacket also has cuffins which is why there's extra fabric around the cuffs. Sad to say I will be returning this one. This one is best left for those with longer arms.

I do think this jacket looks best unzipped.

Next up, we have the Lululemon Lab Waterproof Shell jacket that I took a chance on. It looks very stylish on the model and I wanted a light jacket to wear during the rainy spring months here in Atlanta. It gets warm fairly quickly and I sometimes can't figure out what to wear when it's rainy and warm out. This jacket will solve that problem for me. At least I hope so. It's very thin and lightweight.

After reading the sizing fit on the website site stating it is a relaxed fit with room to layer, I decided it was a safe bet to size down. I'm wearing a size 2 and what I am very happy about is the sleeve length! They're just a little bit long, but nothing to really complain about.

I also like the back vent for air flow. This jacket is made of waterproof Glyde fabric which makes it feel a little slick. I'm also relieved that the color Trench doesn't wash me out. I think it's a very nice neutral. This is a final sale item and the price is still a bit steep at $139 plus tax, but much better than the original retail price of $248. 😧

The two way zipper is a feature that makes this jacket look extra stylish. I love how it looks with the top zipped up but the bottom half open.

When zipped up the collar does not hit my chin, but with the hood up it makes the collar stand up higher for maximum coverage. The opening for the face is actually quite small. Overall, very pleased I took a chance on this final sale item with zero reviews! I lucked out on this one. I highly recommend it and it is very petite friendly. I don't normally purchase Lululemon Lab items, but after this I am willing to try this line more often.

That's it for me! hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I really liked both jackets on you! Idk, the sleeves on the define looked ok on you. I also liked the No collar look. Glad you took a chance in the trench color- the fit of the lab jacket was spot on! Thanks for the review!

    1. Hi Sherry! Thanks! It's a very eye catching jacket. I like the look of the style, just wish the sleeves were shorter...

  2. The Lululemon Lab Waterproof Shell looks really really nice on you! The neutral color goes well with most colors and the design is simple yet stylish! Too bad this style was completely sold out on the Canadian site.

I have been eyeing the Sleet Street Long Jacket. I already have enough winter jackets but could use a waterproof warm one. Just wish it was available in grey. Black is kind of boring and the other colors are not attractive to me …

    1. Hi Andrea! The jacket sold out in most sizes in the Trench. It's still available in the yellow though. It's very bright.

I take it most things sell out fast in Canada because all sizes are available in the US. I like it in the Red Merlot.

  3. hi Leslie, Thanks for reviewing the Define Cropped Jacket Luxtreme! I agree that the sleeves are too long. I don't think this jacket will work for me afterall.

The Lab Waterproof Shell is a great choice! I love how it looks on you. The body length is just right and the relaxed cut is very flattering!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! I can't say I'm surprised about the sleeves. Definitely prefer the Lulu Lab Jacket. Can't wait to wear it out!

  4. The lab coat is such a winner! It looks amazing and so luxe. The define cropped sleeves look like they belong on a costume ball gown!

    1. Hahahhahaha you crack me up! I actually saw the Downton Abbey exhibit today and loved seeing all their dresses on display. Such gorgeous detailing! How much our clothes have changed since then is pretty amazing.

  5. Thanks for the detailed review on the define jacket, Leslie! Guess cuffing doesn't work well when there are thumb holes especially you want that clean look for jackets 😅 I cuff my LS swiftly a bit to shorten the arm length anyway...!

The lab jacket looks great on you! I like the lab line in general - I find the pieces unique unless it's too "out there"!

I did my bf order that night it started, and got the bulk of my order by that week Saturday... And my second bf order came that following Monday. Nothing was cancelled or lost so I consider myself very lucky! However, I have an order placed on Nov 14 and it still hasn't arrived :( it was initially due for arrival on Nov 19. Another item placed shortly after the 14th finally arrived today after being stuck somewhere for 1.5 weeks! So I shall remind hopeful. The shrug I ordered this past Sunday night is still being processed. So slow! When Lulu was speedy, I'd receive my package within 48 hrs of placing my order. Definitely not use to this slowness!

    1. Hi Blueberries! It would have been better if the cuffs didn't have the thumbholes and cuffins. lol

My order from Sunday night finally shipped!! But yeah seems like the days of getting it in 48 hours are long gone. I'm just happy it didn't get cancelled or packages getting lost. Lots of lost packages these days! It's kind of scary.

I hope your November orders arrive soon!

    2. So my shrug arrived but it was a disappointment. The material inside is ok but the deal breaker is the arms - it's too wide and poofy and they make my arms look like gorilla arms :( Hope you like it better than I do!

    3. Oh no! That's disappointing to hear. Mine hasn't arrived yet. I just checked the tracking and it looks like I might get it tomorrow. Did you happen to size down? I went with a size 2 instead of my usual 4.

    4. I sized down to 2. Usually a 4 too. I think it's just the cut. If the poof is close to the wrist like the cropped define, it'll be ok. Actually, if it has a slimmed arm like the back in action LS, that'd be flattering too.

    5. That's a bummer. Sounds like it will be a return for me too. =(

  6. This message is probably late but lululemon fixed that problem for me on the sleeves. Love their hemming services

    1. Hi Anna, thanks for letting us know! Were they able to keep the thumbholes and the cuffs after hemming?

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
