Review! Cocofloss! Pure Strawberry

Hope you all are enjoying the last few days of summer. I know the northeast is getting hammered by Hurricane Henri. Stay safe out there! Today's post is a little different from my usual fit reviews. Sustainability and plastic has been on my mind considering how much plastic has come into our daily lives. Seeing how much plastic we use everyday and how much of it ends up in the ocean really bothers me and my husband. We have been looking into eco-friendly products to reduce the amount of plastic we use and Cocofloss is the first venture into it. This is our personal journey to being environmentally sound. I definitely would like to know if this is something you would like to hear more about as we find our way in reducing plastic.

First let me give you some background. My favorite floss ever was Listerine Reach woven floss. I absolutely loved it because it was gentle on my gums. It was the only floss I would use. But of course all good things had to come to an end and it was discontinued a couple of years ago. I tried a couple of the other brands that were not woven and it just wasn't what I wanted. I wanted my woven floss dammit.

The thing about floss, is each one comes in a plastic dispenser and after you used up all the floss, you threw it away and it was replaced with another plastic container. It just wasn't sitting well with me. Oh and just for shits and giggles, you can now find the discontinued floss marked up at outrageous prices on eBay and Mercari for something around $50 each!!!!! People are insane!

My first purchase was Dr. Tung's Charcoal Lemongrass flavored vegan floss. That is quite a mouthful, but I was willing to give it a try. I really wasn't crazy about this one for a couple of reasons. First, the lemongrass flavor really isn't great. I like mint or at least something that's refreshing. This was not it. Second, it's charcoal and the thread is a very dark gray, almost black and pieces of it would flake off between my teeth. Not a good look in my book.

I did however like the woven texture and it is pretty similar to what I was looking for. It also came in a cardboard container which I also approved of. I just couldn't get past the flavor and the charcoal bits. That said, I am going to use it up. I just won't purchase it again.

I started looking at another company called Cocofloss and everything about this company looks so happy and delicious I had to try it. Strawberry is my go to flavor for almost anything, so I went with that for my first purchase. It does come in a plastic container that's made of recycled water bottles AND it's also re-useable. Which means you can buy refills! Brilliant!

The floss is woven, and it's a little thinner than the Listerine Reach but it still works for sensitive gums. I've been using it for a little over a month now and it looks like I still have a few weeks left. The first thing I noticed is how good the floss smells. It really does smell like strawberry and I just want to eat it. I'm not even kidding.

I've already purchased refills. They come in a pack of three spools. Each one is wrapped in compostable packaging made of 100% renewable wood cellulose. That makes me feel better instead of more plastic packaging. It does come with instructions on how to open up the dispenser.

I've opened mine to show how it opens up. It's easy enough!

And yes I my have just purchased these limited edition S'mores chocolate and vanilla bean floss. I have it coming my way. I can't wait to try it. As for the price, if you're used to buying drugstore brand floss, this is definitely more expensive. I think I was paying $4 a pop for the Listerine Reach and this is definitely luxury floss, if that's a thing. It costs about $8 per re-fill and $10 to try one with the dispenser. However, I do think it is a price I am willing to pay to keep my gums healthy and my teeth clean. Most importantly, it's less plastic that's being thrown out into the landfills.

Do let me know if this content is something you would interested in seeing more of. That's all for me, and hope you all have a great start to the week!

  1. I love this review! This is so cool and the packaging is cute! They are available online in Canada at Indigo for $12 each but all three flavors were sold out! Not sure if it works for tight teeth space though. Oral-B Glide is the only one that works for me.

    1. Hi Andrea! Wow, not surprised it is sold out. The product really is great. Have you checked Amazon? My husband has very tight teeth spaces as well and he has used the Coco Floss and said it works for him too. He's bad though, doesn't always floss daily. =T

  2. hi Leslie! I enjoy this review as well! I like that Coco Floss sells refills. I don't understand why the big brands don't do that!? It would make sense to reuse the case. It's good to know that Indigo sells Coco Floss in Canada. I want to try the strawberry flavour when it's restocked! Amazon sells Coco Floss, but at a much higher price of $45/1 pk or $83/3 pk. That's just way too expensive.

    1. Hi Karen! Glad you enjoyed this review. Maybe I will write another post like this soon! I just got my chocolate and vanilla one today. I'm so excited to try it. But yes that is crazy pricing for Amazon! I am shocked... I did see that CocoFloss does ship to Canada. From their website-

"Cocofloss products are available in the United States and Canada only at this time."

  4. I love Cocofloss too! My dentist uses it and got me hooked on it a few years ago. I bought my first container at Sephora. They sell it right near where you wait in line. Then I bought my refills from them online. I love it! My teeth are super clean after. It pulls everything out!! My favorites are caracara orange and coconut. I'll have to try vanilla next!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
