Fit Review Friday! Nike Air VaporMax

Happy Friday! This has been a long week for me. It was especially a hard week of work and my usual MO to de-stress is to shop. Since I'm avoiding shopping this month, I ended up exercising more as a way to de-stress and I am also reading more to pass the time. It's getting easier as the month goes on if I'm going to be honest. I think there's a study that says it takes 21 days for something to become a habit. There may be something to that.

Today I have a Nike fit review. I have not bought a new pair of Nike's in forever because I'm currently obsessed with Allbirds. When I laid eyes on these Nike Air VaporMax I had to try them. These were returned last month by the way, in case anyone was curious. I did not keep them. I kind of wish I liked them enough to keep because they are really futuristic looking and have cool features.

For reference I wear a size 5 shoe, but for sneakers I prefer size 5.5.

Let's take a look at the packaging. The box is all about sustainability. Nike vows to move to zero carbon and zero waste, which is something I really want to get behind. The box itself is also made of 50% recycled materials and the inside is bare. There's no extra padding or stuffing. It's just the pair of sneakers.

Quick shout out to my Bombas Socks. My favorite socks EVER!

These shoes are made of at least 40% recycled materials and the fabric is recycled FlyKnit. I do really like FlyKnit fabric because it's soft, and sculpts to your foot. It's also very light and airy. There is a locking mechanism built into the sneaker. The back of the shoe has a pull tab that will 'lock' your foot into place. It basically tights up the heel and the front. Then the front of the shoe where the laces are is another tab you can pull to 'release' your foot. It's actually pretty cool.

So if these sneakers are so cool, why did I return them? I felt as though the width of the shoe was narrow on the bottom of the sole. The sneaker itself didn't feel tight, it was the sole that felt too small. Does that make sense? It felt a little strange walking around with a narrow sole. I placed my fingers on both sides of the shoe where I felt it was too narrow. I think the photo of the bottom of the sole actually might make more sense.

See how the sides curve in? I felt like there wasn't enough support on the sides of my foot. It just felt strange. It wasn't uncomfortable, it just didn't feel right to me. Which is too bad because the new colors that came out this year are amazing!

That's it for me. Let me know if you have tried these sneakers and found the same issue. It might be that I have a smaller foot in size but a wider width? I am not sure. Totally bummed because I love how these look and the mechanics behind it!

How cool do these two new colors look? 😍 I really wish I liked them enough to keep.

  1. I love the color of the shoes! Like a neutral pastel unicorn. I don't wear sneakers these days, just my vans pro or Docs, but I love reading your shoes posts. :) Happy Friday! I've also heard the 21 days to form a habit... wasn't ever sure if it was 21 or 28 but something like that lol!

    1. I have Docs, but haven't worn them in a while. They're kids and they have side zips! I will break them out once it gets cooler.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
