Review! Proenza Schouler Medium PS1 vs Tiny PS1

Happy May! Can't believe how quickly this year is going by. My husband and I are getting our second does of Pfizer tomorrow. I'm hoping it won't be too horrible but we are preparing for the worst. Basically making sure we have food for the next couple of days that only require using the microwave. 😅

Lately I've been on a handbag kick. Actually I'm always looking at handbags, but Proenza Schouler's PS1 really caught my eye when I saw the crinkled leather version. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

This bag retails for $1,995 and there's no way I'm paying that much for this bag. I did however find it on Fashionphile for $450 in very good condition. The description said the bag has some wear and the main zipper was hard to close. I wasn't terribly concerned about the wear on the bag as it's a moto style bag and part of that style is wear and tear. The zipper issue was a little bit more concerning but I decided to take a chance on it. Fashionphile always has free ship and free returns which puts my mind at ease.

This is the medium PS1. It's slightly smaller than a Balenciaga City. There are extra zippers and tassels which I love. The leather is crinkled lambskin and I think it gives it so much character compared to the calfskin Tiny PS1 which I will review after.

The closure is a flip switch lock style.

The belts in the front only need to slide though the buckles to close, they are not actual working buckles. This bag has a ton of compartments and pockets. I love that. There's almost too many.

Front pocket has a magnetic snap closure.

Inside the bag has two main compartments.

Back of the bag also has an exterior pocket with a zipper.

Top handle is very sturdy.

This is the zipper that is difficult to close. It isn't a functional zipper, meaning it doesn't expand the bag in any way nor does it actually open to a functional pocket. It's more for style and I managed to close it all the way up and I'm leaving it that way. The rest of the zippers are fine. Overall for $450 it's a steal since I didn't notice much wear on the bag.

Next up I'll review the Tiny PS1 in grainy calfskin leather.

As you can see this bag is much smaller than the medium size but it is the perfect small crossbody bag. The condition is excellent as stated on the website however when I received it, it was brand new. The tags were still on it, the hardware was still covered, there were minor scratches that was barely visible to the eye. This bag retails for $1,550. Fashionphile's price? $765 which is more than half off. I think if I didn't love the crinkled leather so much I would have kept this one.

The design is exactly the same as the medium, just a smaller scaled version of it. The leather is a soft grained calfskin but it's much smoother than the medium's crinkled leather. There are no extra zippers, this is the regular version of the PS1 that's more common.

The leather is very soft.

There's not much clearance under the handle.

Same style closure.

As you can see the tags are still attached and there's only one main compartment with a small interior pocket. This bag can fit your everyday essentials with no problem. I can easily fit my two card cases, key holder, iPhone 12 Pro, mask with room to spare.

Back of the bag also has a zippered exterior pocket.

They are both gorgeous bags. I ended up keeping the Medium PS1 and returned the Tiny. I actually do want to get a Tiny PS1 added to my collection one day. I am waiting for the perfect one to pop up on Fashionphile. Do you have a PS1? What do you think of this style bag? It does remind me of a briefcase but with more style and edge. I think it would make a great everyday bag in either size. This bag does come in a large, mini and micro size but those are a little too extreme on the size scale for me. That's it for me! Hope you all have a fantastic Monday!

  2. Thank you for your bag review! I have to credit (or blame) you for starting me on my Coach purse collection since you first reviewed the Swagger with butterflies and then the tearose Rogue, bringing the 1941 line to my attention. Coach is as luxe as I will go but I enjoy reading, learning, and admiring other bags!

    1. Hi Suzanne! I'm actually eyeing another Coach bag, I really like the Beat Saddle bag in Red Sand... Maybe next month!!

    2. Leslie, would love a review if you end up getting the Beat Saddle, which I have also admired in the Red Sand and the Natural (that burnishing and pewter hardware). I think the Beat bags are rather edgy but just wish the interior was leather as well.

    3. I will definitely add the Beat Saddle to my list. I saw the Red Sand in person and it is gorgeous! The Natural they didn't have at the store but they had the Ergo bag in the Natural and the Red Sand was definitely the nicer color. Yes the inside is suede microfiber and would have been better in all leather, agreed. But the price would have been even more.

    4. Leslie, thanks for your thoughts on the Beat Saddle. I haven't seen it in real life yet but I do tend to be drawn to bags in the red/burgundy family, so Red Sand was the first that caught my eye but every picture I have seen of the Natural, the Beat is just so lovely looking. In any case, happy to have you post more purse reviews of any brand!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
