My New York Trip - Photos!

Hello from New York! Soooo much walking to be done here. My husband and I walked 18 miles in two days in our Allbirds. We both wore our Wool Dasher Mizzles and they held up nicely in the rain. It's been dreary and cold the past couple of days. I even brought my Plush Scuba Hoodie. I also wore my Everyday Belt Bag for these excursions. I did not want to carry anything fancy and the EBB was perfect to hold my card case, mask, sunglasses and some tissues. I'm not sure how many of you know this but I majored in Visual Arts at Fordham University. I took a lot of photography and graphic design classes. So here are some photojournalism style snaps of my trip so far.

One of the things I really miss about New York is good dim sum. Atlanta has decent dim sum places but it's just not as good. It'll do in a pinch though as my husband likes to say. Masks are required everywhere you go.

Egg tart- breakfast pastry.

I'm a little weary about taking the subway these days but we did take the LIRR and the MTA to go into the city. So far it's been okay for us. I may have to head back in at least one more time before I head home. I've been keeping it to a minimum because of the anti-asian attacks that's been happening.

We walked through Chinatown with some friends and ended up walking to Little Italy and then to Times Square. We eventually circled back to Hudson Yards. We walked a total of nearly 10 miles that day!

Souvenir shop in Chinatown.

Little Italy- oops my finger got in the way!

Looking for Italian Icees. We found a place, I ordered a cherry flavored one.

Times Square.

Everything is open and almost back to normal.

The Vessel at Hudson Yards.

Laduree macaroons. Heaven in your mouth! OMG I just found out they DO ship!

Sculpture of the city that's hanging from the ceiling at Moynihan Train Hall- Penn Station.

Today I went into Flushing to get a new pair of glasses. Even though I moved to Atlanta five years ago, my dentist and eye doctor are still in New York. Afterwards, I ventured into some of the grocery stores.

My grandma used to make these! Inside is filled with meats usually sausage and sticky rice.

Special request- I asked for tong yuan.

Last, our cat sitter is sending us photos of our kits. Here is Simi looking extremely suspicious still. 😆

Those are treats!

This is Neko- she's slinking around, also suspicious, but not as paranoid as Simi. The boys are apparently totally fine without us! Typical right??

I'm here for another week! That's it for me, see you all on Tuesday. 😃

  1. Thank you for the photos! They brought back some fond memories. I miss the food and the shops and all the walking in the city. I laughed at "Those are treats" because I was worried for a second. Enjoy the rest of the trip!

    1. Hahaha, yeah when I saw that photo of Simi I did a double take and then I was like oh, they're the treats!

Thanks AmherstLulu! We miss walking in a city sooooo much. It's one of the main reasons Jared wants to move back north.

    1. Thanks Karen! Ahhh the soup is so good! Should definitely try it if you can. It's pretty easy to make, but it just takes a long time to make it. But so worth it.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
