Review! Tory Burch Lee Radziwill Small Bag

I can't believe my birthday was a month ago already. It boggles my mind how fast this year is going. In my quest for finding a new bag for my birthday, this Tory Burch was one of the ones I was eyeing. It reminded me of a vintage bag from the 60s. In some ways it looks like a Hermes Kelly but I think it stands on its own.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

Who is Lee Radziwill? She was a friend of Tory Burch and this bag is an homage to the style icon. She was the younger sister of Jaqueline Kennedy and sister-in-law to President John F. Kennedy. Sadly she passed away in 2019.

The blue really caught my eye on this bag. The suede sides are a nice complement to the robin's egg blue. The light gold hardware works well with the colors of the bag. This bag can be carried three different ways. You can sling it over your shoulder, it can be hand carried, wear it in the crook of your arm. It also comes with a detachable long shoulder strap so you can wear it crossbody as well. I personally wasn't a fan of the last look. It's my least favorite.

The size of this bag is small. It is wider on the bottom and narrows at the top. It can fit all your daily essentials with room to spare. Let's go over the dimensions.
  • Top handle - 5.5 inch drop
  • Removable shoulder strap has a 13 inch drop
  • Dimensions - 11.75" by 7.5" by 3.75"

The buckle in the front of the bag has a closure that can be opened using the Tory Burch "key" or you can pull it open using a little bit of force with your hands. I personally wouldn't ever use this buckle and prefer to leave the latch open. Otherwise it makes it extremely difficult to get in and out of the bag.

Fully closed

The back of the bag has rings to attach the shoulder strap.

Shoulder strap- I didn't bother to remove all the protective wrap since I was going to return the bag.

Let's take a look at how this bag opens up. This bag only opens up with the latch undone. Then you have to pull the bag open which extends the buckles straight out. It's pretty roomy once the bag is open. Reminds me of a doctor's bag with the big opening. This is great because you can see easily where everything is inside the bag.

Has one large pocket and two small pockets on the sides. Inside is completely lined with leather.

The handle pivots with full range of motion. It can fall forwards or backwards over the bag.

Has four feet on the bottom so you can set the bag down and not worry.

Now let's get into the quality and details of the bag. Tory Burch is considered a contemporary designer. Prices are mid range from $400-$1300 or so on the website. This falls in the same category as Coach. I love Coach, especially their 1941 and Originals line. The price for this particular Tory Burch bag is $698 which is fairly steep in my opinion for this bag. The leather is completely smooth with no grain. I prefer a leather with some grain, I think it gives the bag a little more character as it gets worn.

Shown here, Coach Willis bag as part of the 1941 line.

Close up of the leather. Notice the slight texture and contrast stitching.

Tory Burch leather is completely smooth leather with very small and tight stitching.

I particularly love a contrast stitch. Personal preference but the bigger stitching mimics hand stitching even though it's by machine. I really love the tiny grain of the leather. The smooth leather almost makes it look like faux leather to me. For $698 I didn't think it was quite worth it which is why I am returning it. If this was priced around $500 I would have re-considered. Maybe if it ends up on sale?

There is one other Tory Burch Lee Radziwill bag that I am interested in. It's called the Small Double Bag and the leather looks like the Coach leather I love. I'm debating If I want to try the Mallow color or wait for something brighter. It is a very pretty peachy pink color.

See the tiny grain?

That's it for me! Let me know what you think of Tory Burch and if you have any of her bags.

  1. Thanks for the review, Leslie! The blue color is really pretty but I also prefer leather with grain which
Ike you said, gives it character. I’m fine with both tone-on-tone and contrast stitchings, but the latter will show if the stitchings are not straight or if the stitching widths are not consistent. Okay I know I’m picky when it comes to quality control LOL.

The Lee Radziwill Bag is small and cute, but it would be too much hassle to open and close it. I know it’s it’s unique design that makes the bag stand out, but I personally prefer something more functional, like the Small Double Bag. I would say give it a try if it comes in a pretty color!

    1. Hi Andrea! If you're paying a lot of money for a bag, the stitching better be consistent. Coach always has excellent quality control from what I've seen and I've had a lot of Coach bags. I still do! I really like the contrast stitching with the bigger threads, really gives it "made by hand" feel vs machine, even though they're likely machine stitches which is why they are as close to perfect as possible. Probably also why I love the Chloe Paddington line. The stitching is very similar to the Coach Willis.

Yes the Small Double Bag definitely is more practical to use. I will have to keep an eye out for a color I love. Have a great Monday!

  2. That bag is so very cute! I didn't realize it was difficult to open and close. It's also fairly costly. Combine all that with the fact that I'm still not getting out much, well, I won't be buying it.

    1. It didn't pass for me either. I do love checking out new bags though, and with the pandemic it is hard for me to see new ones in person. I do have some more bag reviews coming up!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
