I'm slowly going to be expanding what I cover on this blog. Why? I've spent about an hour looking at different websites and have not been finding anything interesting. Increasingly it feels that the activewear market is drying up. I find myself less interested in the Lululemon updates every Tuesday. Sure I'm happy they're producing more colors that I like, but the items themselves aren't tempting me.
Athleta seems to be diversifying their line with items that could work within an office environment, which I'm actually pretty happy about, but there's not enough of that just yet. Hopefully they will add more items like the Stellar Blazer and Stellar Crop that I reviewed in a recent post.
Some of the things that I'll be talking about in the future are my thoughts and results with Alexia Clarke's fitness routine. I may also do a post showing our finished kitchen and some other changes we're making to our condo. I'm thinking about diving into various quick food items like the Epic jerky bars I just reviewed. And of course, the kittens! We're slowly allowing them to explore more of the condo. Nero still hates all of them! He's a grumpy old cat.
Let me know your thoughts on the activewear industry. Are you still buying and looking as often as you once were? If you aren't spending as much, is it because you've reached a saturation point in your wardrobe? Or are the companies not putting out things that are as interesting as they once were? If you're spending less on activewear, are you spending more on something else? For me, this year all my money has been going to bags!
So has the craze died down? Let me know what you think. Anonymous comments are welcome.
I totally agree. I'm ready and willing to spend $$ on cute, good quality athletic wear but just can't seem to find anything in my style these days. I still check Lulu religiously for updates but just feel constantly disappointed in their offerings. If I do ever decide I want to pull the trigger I usually read all the negative reviews and decide not to. Their quality just isn't what it once was. I like Athleta for some of their pants, but their bras never fit me right and they don't have any tops I like. Also their patterns/colors really aren't my taste usually. I've tried dabbling with other yoga and fitness brands but they are usually disappointing as well either in fit, functionality, or quality. I feel like there's a lot of room for new athletic/yoga brands to come in and pick up a huge chunk of market where others are lacking. Or otherwise for the brands that do exist to up their game. It's just all so blah right now.
ReplyDeleteAthleta bras never fit me either. I do like that they offer petite sizing. This helps me a lot for leggings and pants, so I can forgive the bra issue. That said I agree that a lot of their offerings are not my style. I for one would love to see Lululemon offer petite sizing...
DeleteI agree also, I think the market is saturated. I have enough athletic wear and bags. I spent the last year and a half scoping out eBay for old Lulu gems. I bought minimal new released Lulu (10 or so items). I still check upload ever week, but nothing piques my interest. Now I’m done, as you said: no need for same items in more colours. They definitely need to expand to athleisure wear that is more dressy or versatile for work etc. I myself am on the hunt for dresses for everyday wear.
ReplyDeleteYes! Would love to see Lululemon offer athleisure wear, dresses, office friendly pieces and in petite sizing please! The only thing I would add to my stash are sports bras and more shorts. I really wear shorts a lot.
DeleteI agree with what has been said. My new addiction is luxury makeup, Tom Ford, Cle de Peau, La Mer, Guerlain, etc.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh I do love me some luxe make up! I have a lot of tom ford and guerlain. I haven't tried La Mer. I have a couple of things from Cle de Peau. I usually treat myself two times a year on some nice make up. I can't seem to go through it fast enough though to justify buying much more.
DeleteWould love to see a review of your luxe make up stash!
DeleteHah! I will see what I can do!
DeleteI agree as well, nothing has tempted me on Lulu for quite a while, and even the things I try on have minor fit issues that keep me from pulling the trigger, even at WMTM prices, which are hardly even sale prices anymore.
ReplyDeleteHah! So true. Their WMTM prices are $10 off the retail price. And on top of that it's yours for keeps! Major turn off right there... sometimes I do find better prices at the stores though.
DeleteI'm UK based, agree the activewear market is getting a bit dull everywhere! But regardless on how exciting or not the activewear is, your thoughts on Alexia Clarke's workouts, cats, handbags interior design and healthy snacks are very welcome, you've got very similar hobbies to mine and I always look forward to your posts! If you travel and want to share your travel stories, I'd look forward to those too! P.S. I am an active petite with 3 cats and a bit of a project house ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I really have a weakness for handbags. It was really bad in the mid 2000s, when Chloe paddingtons were all the rage. Then I had a serious Balenciaga collection but sold a lot off, and now I'm buying them back up again. I never learn.
DeleteHi! I also have been buying less and just been sticking to what I wear my lulu for (running). I think the quality of the speed up short is horrible you look at a pair and can see through the fabric. I've been buying older release speed shorts (with new tags) off ebay. They fit better and the quality is great, and the price sometimes is reasonable!
ReplyDeleteSpeed Up Shorts are actually growing on me.I have two or three pairs now and I rotate them just as often as my regular Speed Shorts. The new fit is more flattering on my petite legs. I haven't noticed the see through fabric, but I will go home and take a look now!
DeleteI have really slowed down on my lulu purchases lately, unless I find a really good deal on WMTM. The CRB2 is like my uniform though so I snatch those up whenever they're on sale. I really need to get rid of some of my CRBs and WUCs though! I love Ahtleta dresses and swimwear, so have picked up some new stuff from them recently. As far as your blog goes, I would love to read some varied content. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah! I see I'm not the only one that slowed down my buying.
DeleteLululemon's sales have been going up despite the fact many people find that lulu is not as good as it used to be. I think that means Lulu got new markets in new generations who do not know the Lulu in 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably true. As long as they keep finding new customers they will be fine.
