Review EPIC Bar Turkey Almond Cranberry

Happy Friday everyone! We're halfway into June and summer is pretty much here. The days are long and here in Atlanta there's still a glimmer of sunlight at 9:30 pm. It's amazing. I've been trying to eat better, which to me means cutting out sugar. I have a sweet tooth and it's the hardest thing for me to kick. I get hungry around 11 am and around 3:30 pm. As the receptionist, there's a huge candy bowl about three feet away from me filled with Kit Kats, Snickers, peanut M&Ms and more. The kind of candy that you wanted when you went trick or treating as a child. So around that time my eye always wanders over to this giant candy bowl. Half the time I can talk my way out of grabbing something out of the bowl. But I want to be better about it!

The other day I was at Whole Foods and saw EPIC Bars were on sale. Two for $4. I decided to pick up the turkey almond cranberry bar and uncured bacon bar. Today's review is for the turkey almond cranberry bar.

Let's check out the nutrition facts. 130 calories per serving. One serving is one bar. Fat calories are 50. Total fat is 6 grams. Saturated fat 1 gram. Sodium is 190mg. Carbs are 10 grams. Sugars are 6 grams. Protein 11 grams. Overall, it's not bad.

To give you a little bit of background, I normally love pork jerky but I find it to have a lot of sugar and a lot of salt. I don't have it too often. This EPIC bar definitely piqued my interest because of the low sugar and salt content.

Looking at the list of ingredients, I can actually pronounce everything on it. That's a good sign! Interesting thing is it contains cranberries and almonds. I've never had any kind of jerky with fruit or nuts in it. I realize that not everyone likes sweet with savory and I am one of those people that do not mind it.

The bar is about half an inch thick. It's not very big. About four inches long and two inches wide. I was worried it would be tough to chew but I was able to break a piece off really easily. You can actually see the almonds and cranberries embedded in the turkey. The taste is a little bit sweet and a little bit salty. There's a hint of turkey flavor, but not much. My first reaction was wow, this isn't bad... but it's not fantastic. However, I do think it can keep me away from the sugar bowl. I may have to buy some more the next time I'm at Whole Foods. I also only ate half the bar at 10:30 and saved the second half for the afternoon munchies.

Do you have a favorite snack? I would love to hear what others snack on at the office. Please leave me a comment, and if you're having problems shoot me an email. I changed the restrictions to allow anyone to comment but for those who have been around for a while you may need to refresh your browser if it doesn't allow you to.

That's it for me, hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I’m a carb junkie with a sweet tooth and I find if I don’t just eat whatever I’m craving, I’ll eat a bunch of “healthy” snacks before finally just eating what I wanted to begin with. So now I just skip to the goodies and save myself the extra 2-400 calories worth of pre-snacking lol

    1. I hear ya, sometimes I just gotta let me have those fries. LOL! I wish I loved to drink plain water. I just find it so boring. I've tried lemon and I'll do it for a little bit but then I'll just stop after a while. I need to find something that gives it a little bit of a taste that isn't sour.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
