Last weekend I got my hair colored for the first time since my college days. I wanted to try something new with how my hair looked. I couldn't do anything too crazy since I work as a receptionist for a pretty conservative company. I wanted more of a cherry red but my hair stylist said my virgin hair was very uncooperative and didn't want to give up my dark brown color. After about three hours I walked out looking like this:
It's not quite as red as I was hoping for. He said next time I go back it will be more red like how I imagined. So afterwards I went to my local Ulta Beauty store to check out some products for red colored hair. I debated between Joico and Purelogy. Purelogy is fairly expensive. Almost $30 a pop for shampoo and conditioner. Joico is about half as much. I decided to give Joico a try. My hairstylist said to get something in the mid range for specifically red colored hair.
So far, I'm not too impressed with Joico. It is known that red hair fades the fastest of all dyed hair. I feel like the intense red has already faded and the color is turning into a brassy orange. I guess it's the downfall of having asian hair! Maybe next time I'll try Purelogy. It is what Christina Hendricks swears by.
This was taken a week after.
Do you color your hair? What products do you swear by?
