Fit Review Friday and Guest Fit Review! Hotty Hot HR Short 2.5 inch, Calm Tides Running Short 2.5 inch Esca & Tapered-Leg Mid-Rise Pant 7/8 Length Luxtreme
Happy Friday! Is Atomic Purple the best purple ever, or what? This color is so pretty and saturated but doesn't scream Barney. I think Atomic Purple in small doses will brighten up any outfit. We also have a guest fit review from Andrea!
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon bottoms.
There's been a lot of talk recently how Hotty Hot Shorts have gotten smaller over the past year or so. I have found this to be true. I'm still wearing my usual size 4 in the Atomic Purple Hotty Hot Shorts and they are cut smaller but not enough for me to size up. I do like how they fit my bum better, they used to have more excess fabric from the back. Now, not so much! It's a good thing the waistband is stretchy. It's the liner that you have to worry about. I believe this color is currently sold out in the Hotty Hot HR 2.5" but if you're looking for a pair of shorts in this color, you might want to check out the Calm Tides Running Short 2.5" Esca and what do you know, I have a fit review for it!
This is my first time trying Esca fabric. They're really soft and silky. It does remind me a little bit like swimwear. Esca fabric is quick-drying and features four-way stretch. There is a built in liner and I think the fit is very similar to Hotty Hot Shorts. The waistband is wide and smooth and sits right under my belly button. From the side, these do feel shorter than Hotty Hots which is weird because they are the same length.
My only complaint is how much extra fabric there is on the bum. I am not filling these out as intended. 😆 That's basically my only gripe about these shorts. Too wrinkly from the back. They look better from the front, at least on me. If you have bigger glutes, you may want to give these a try! Otherwise, these are true to size.

"The pant looks okay on me in the pictures, nicer in the back than the front. In real life it’s roomier than I wish with excess fabric in the front because of the elasticated waist. It’s comfortable though. I wish Lululemon made these in numeric sizing or bring back the On The Fly Pant 7/8 Length."
"I’ve placed my On The Fly Pant 7/8 Length over the Tapered-Leg Mid-Rise Pant 7/8 Length Luxtreme size XS. The latter is wider in the waist and hip by 1” and 1.25” respectively. It’s 1.5” wider at the thigh and 1” wider at the tapered hem. Inseam Is slightly shorter at 26.5”."

Thanks for the fit reviews. The shorts look great on you. Really? The hotty hot shorts are fitting smaller lately? I bought a pair of the lip gloss color. Is that considered from the recent ones because I don't feel like they're fitting smaller than my older ones. Cindy
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! The sizing does vary by color/print. I have a pair from last year in Diamond Dye that are really small. The liner actually kind of digs in the side a bit so I think they have to be re-homed.

I ended up grabbing the Dark Lavender French Terry Shrug (pre-WMTM) in a size down from my tts. The sleeves are still slightly too long, but it's so. dang. soft. I love it and will also get Bone if it hits WMTM, as well. Happy weekend, Leslie!
Hi LZ! I just received the Crop version of the Tapered Pant in size XS and they are a little wide. I haven't taken the photos yet, so we'll see how they look. But I'm guessing they will be a return for me as well.
DeleteOhhhhh thanks for the recommendation for the French Terry Shrug. I'll wait and see if they go on sale for Bone. I would prefer that over the purple.
Hi Leslie and Andrea! Thanks for the fit reviews! I agree that Atomic Purple is the perfect purple. I'm considering getting a pair of shorts in this colour, but am debating because I already have the Speed Up HR shorts in Moonlit Magenta. Are they different enough that I need both?

Hi Karen! They're pretty close in color I think, so unless you want to try a different style, it's probably not worth to have both colors.

DeleteAndrea, I hope Lulu will bring back the OTF pants and joggers too! Lately, I've been purchasing more from Athleta than Lulu, especially for pants/joggers. The newer Lulu styles just don't fit me as well.
