UPDATE ! I just received an Allbirds promo code for 15% off anything! Gift cards are excluded from the sale. Coupon code is PETITEIMPACT15OFF. The sale starts today and ends 8/21. Happy shopping! I kind of want to break my ban and buy the Allbirds Dasher Relay with the mint sole. 😑

Happy Friday! The tail end of summer is here and I know this is a late review for a swimsuit, but I thought I would post it in case anyone was still looking for one to try. I also have a pair of Softstreme shorts up for review.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

Softstreme Relaxed Short 4" Silver Blue Size 4

Softstreme is one of my favorite Lulu fabrics and I would love to add a pair of shorts to my Softstreme collection. I ordered size 4 and 6 to try. The size 4 is definitely more flattering, but as you can see the waistband is a smidge too tight on me. I do not have a small waist to hip ratio and am super jealous of those who are! I guess, I could try and eat healthier since abs are made in the kitchen and all that. 😐 Which, I may have to depending on what my lab results are. I went to get my annual physical on Wednesday. I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor. I'll keep you all posted!

The Silver Blue is just as pretty as I expected. It's slowly becoming one of my favorite shades of blue. The leg opening is fairly large, and definitely too large in the size 6 even though the waist was more comfortable. These are more of a lounge short rather than something I would wear to go out in, but that's just me. The price is steep at $78 so I would really have to love them to justify the price.

Even though the description for the shorts describes them as super-high rise, I found myself being able to pull the waistband down to my desired placement, which for me is underneath my belly button. I do like the flat front and elastic back waistband. I think it keeps it stylish but casual at the same time. The inseam measures 4 inches long. I found the length flattering but I definitely wouldn't want it to be any longer than that.

As a relaxed fit short, I wasn't too concerned about it being see-through since the fabric is fairly thick. It's a medium weight fabric with a nice drape.

That said, neither size worked out for me, so I opted to return both pairs. Next up, we have the Waterside V-Neck Skimpy-Fit One-Piece Swimsuit. To be honest, I'm kind of terrified posting these pics. 🙈 I don't think I look bad in these pics, I'm just kinda shy.

I'm wearing my usual size 4. This swimsuit features a deep V-Neck in the front and back. This is also a skimpy fit which has a high front, back and side. The fabric is very soft and stretchy and honestly it was very comfortable as far as swimsuits go. I was a little worried my short torso wouldn't work with the deep v-neck, but it actually fit. My only concern is it's for a B-C cup which I obviously do not have and I think it would be more flattering on someone with a bigger cup size.

The high-cut back does ride up a bit, especially when I'm walking. I do think that's probably something that happens regardless of how big or small your glutes are. The straps on the back are placed very far apart, but luckily the straps are fully adjustable. There is a built in shelf bra with removable cups.

Surprisingly, Lululemon does accept returns on all swimwear as long as the hygiene liner is left intact. This may be TMI, but I did wipe everything down before I tried it on and after I took it off since I did not like this enough to keep. Let me know what you think of this swimsuit!

That's all for me. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Tbh, I think that swimsuit is only ok - idk maybe I'm more conservative so I don't like that high v in the bottom... especially the front. I tend to go with their high waist medium coverage bottom - those are pretty flattering!

Today's Lulu WMTM drop was very disappointing...! Nothing for me! On the bright side, my teal nulu cropped define and ebb in silver drop came! I don't need them ... But just couldn't resist 😂

    1. Hi Blueberries! For practical reasons, more coverage on the bottom wouldn't ride up as much, so I would prefer something less high cut.

Ohhhh I love Tidewater Teal and Silver drop looks amazing with it! Enjoy.

  2. I am not sure how much I like the bathing suit itself but I think you look great in it! :)

  3. Those Softstreme shorts are really cute! They are almost completely sold out in every color on the Canadian site though.

I'm not a huge fan of one-piece swimsuits on me (or swimsuits in general, lol), but you are rocking that one!

I almost broke my shopping ban when I saw your Allbirds discount code, but unfortunately, it doesn't work on the Canadian website :(. Oh well, my August no-buy is still intact!

    1. Hi Lola! Yes they're super popular, and mostly sold out on the US side too.

Thank you, I'm so self conscious but I am trying to step out of my comfort zone a little bit more. Baby steps!

Ahhhhh so sorry it doesn't apply to Canada. I really need to find out if there's a different code I can give out for you! But that's a good thing your no-buy is still in tact!!

  4. Wow! Waterside V-neck skimpy-fit one piece swimsuit looking amazing, shows all your beautiful feminine curves. If there is one item to break your August ban this is must have buy!
The style of the plunging v-neck line and v-rear coverage compliments swimsuit aesthetically design very well. Lululemon did great job designing a winner.

The high cut along the hip makes your legs look longer. If i didn't know any better i say you appear taller then 4'11" height mentioned, more like 5'8" just under the cutoff height to join model agency.

You stated the rear rio style bottoms ride up not staying in place when walking. This is common with rio cut bottoms having the option of thong bottom when desired.
Most swimsuits practically wedge themselves at the bottom when climbing out of a water.
Been fashion trend style to have cheeky thong bottom coverage for awhile.

Traditional ladies have not crossed the fashionable line of skimpier bottoms swimsuits yet. Doubt they ever will, either being self consciousness, set in their ways about modesty about their aging body. Leslie you have nothing to worry about being young, pretty and beautiful shape may i say without judgement one word flawless.

Seen previous weekend on the beach with similar swimsuit your reviewing. Unsure if she was wearing Lululemon waterside one piece swimsuit. She stood from a distance and clearly had thong backside. From your review i now can assume it was indeed the true navy swimsuit exiting the water intentionally wedged the rio v-backside to a thong style.
From what i observed on the beach she didn't look bad at all. Like you wrote varies on the shape of ones bum in how it appears.

Let me end by saying i've observing lot of females on the beach wearing various swimsuits bikinis and natural bodies this summer. Leslie you come ranked top of the list lovely physiques i've seen. I'm sure in person you look a lot better than camera lenses lighting. represents. If it wasn't for the blog reading your reviews and seen you at a pool or beach be intimidating complimenting you in the swimsuits. Thinking to myself this is one confident young beautiful lady not needing my thoughts.

Suggestion of doing practical pool review video in the Waterside swimsuit on the blog or IG page? Curious how the chlorine water effects the fabric is it durable enough or is it just to look good in which you do so well? More you wear swimsuit in a public pool the easier it feels being less anxious and shy.

Maybe your can be bolder review beach bikinis from Oh Lola swimwear. https://ohlolaswimwear.com/product/disco-micro-bikini/

    1. Thank you so much Mack! You're too kind. I do agree the high-cut makes my legs look longer though. I didn't mind the high front, but the back I think I would have preferred moderate coverage just so I wouldn't have to pull at the bottom all the time.

I will think about posting some pool pics on my next swimwear review (that is if I decide to keep it!) I don't think I'll ever be brave enough for a micro bikini LOL!

  5. The suit looks great on you! I really like the bottom - my preferred cut - but I'm not crazy about the top. I still haven't tried on any of LLL's swimwear.

Oooh - I'm tempted by your Allbirds code! I was browsing the site (because of you) earlier this week but decided not to pull the trigger. I very likely might now, though!

    Have a great weekend! :)

Hah! If you do place an order with Allbirds, let me know what you got!

    1. Thank you so much for your comment! I'm still really self conscience about my body, but as I'm only getting older and not getting younger, I have to appreciate what I have! It's taken me a long time to get here, still not quite there but baby steps!

  7. hi Leslie, Thanks for the fit review. The Softstreme Relaxed Short 4" looks very comfy and great for lounging. As for the swimming suit, I personally prefer more coverage in the bottom, but that's just me. You look great in it~

Hang in there with your no-buy! September is less than two weeks away (easy for me to say when the code doesn't work in Canada ^_^)!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! Thank you! The shorts are super comfy, but I didn't love them for the price.

Ahhhh I broke my ban and bought a pair. At least I made it 19 days in! But I am going to be on a strict no-spending for the rest of the month!

    2. You look great! It is hard for those of us who don’t fit the media ideal but are still beautiful. I also have a waist nearly equal to my hips. I have never had a man reject me for that. Clothes may be harder to fit, but we are still beautiful!

    4. I know the feeling, it's hard to see models that are literally a foot taller than me looking so beautiful. It's hard not to compare ourselves to these images. We need to be kind to ourselves. I appreciate your comments so much!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
