Fit Review Friday! Store Try On Athleta Getaway Linen Blend Tee and Paradise Oversized Short Sleeve Top

Happy Friday! Today's post we have another Athleta fit review try-on. I have been loving Athleta's linen pieces and when I saw the Paradise Oversized Short Sleeve Top drop, I was very curious because it's marketed as performance linen. I have never heard of that and needed to find out more! Also, Athleta is having a 25% off Mother's Day Sale. No code needed. Lots of items are marked 40% to 50% off. Definitely worth checking out!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

(on sale $27.50)

The Getaway Linen Blend Tee is super soft and I'm wearing size XS. The length is a little long and I have it folded up a bit and tucked in. It is super comfortable, but because it is a linen blend, it has that heathered and slightly worn in look. It's more of a casual, laid back style tee. It is on the thin side and I would expect the lighter colors to be slightly see-through. I didn't love the Olive Branch color, but the dark navy Eclipse is more my speed. It's currently on sale for $27.50!

(on sale 25% off)

Next, we have the Paradise Oversized Short Sleeve Top in Flax. I'm wearing size XXS and it is still oversized on my petite frame. The fabric is a linen blend with European flax with 2% spandex which gives it a "sport like stretch" (got that off the website description).

I didn't love the fit, I think it's too boxy and not very flattering but it is very comfortable. I love the fabric, I think it has a lot of potential and would love to see other styles made.

I also tried it in Bright White, but it was so wrinkly, it really didn't look flattering, so I only took one photo. 😕 That's all for today! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Ooh, the tshirt is cute! But there is nothing special about it. I have many other similar shirts, both in fabric content (linen) and color.

I’m trying to be more discriminating…I recently bought a pair of white linen trousers from Athleta, not realizing I already had a pair. The legs are different widths, but not enough to be noticeable.

    1. I have that same issue too. I gravitate towards certain styles and colors, and I'll sometimes find myself asking why I bought something when I see I have something almost exactly the same! I've been trying to dig through my clothes before making a purchase to compare to other items I already own.

    2. I think as we mature and define our styles, we gravitate toward the similar. It’s hard to remember that we don’t need the same stuff that we already own.

    3. Completely agree, I always try and make sure I don't have something similar already. Sometimes a different kind of fabric or updated cut could justify the purchase, if I like the new item more than my old one. Then I'll make the case to replace the old item.

I'll also add that it's a lot easier to "see" what's in your closet if you have most of it on hangers. I have about 4 drawers for tees, underthings, joggers, and cashmere. Everything else is hung up. But I know not everyone has the space to do that. Sometimes I want to try a minimalist closet. Have you guys heard of the Project 333 challenge? Wear 33 items for 3 months. But it sounds impossible to me!

    4. I have heard of Project 333 and I don’t think I could do it or actually want to try.

However, I was putting away winter clothes the other day and realized that I used just a tiny fraction of my winter wardrobe. That’s because I got a puppy just before Christmas so I wore easily washed, very casual “dog mom” clothes while she was small and needy and often got her paws all over me. I saw that I didn’t need very many items at all. But now that she’s older, has more manners, I’m excited to wear more of my wardrobe.

I’ll add that when I travel, I get along fine with a very limited wardrobe. But it’s more fun to have more options.

    5. I've debated about putting away my winter clothes, but I don't really have another area to do so. So all my clothes always stay in my closet. But if I could put away winter clothes somewhere else, my closet would look a lot less full!

I definitely have "cat clothes" for when I'm home and they crawl all over me. I trim their nails regularly, but still doesn't keep from snagging my clothes. I used to have a golden haired dog and I could never wear black. But now I have 5 cats with all the colors, so it doesn't matter what color I wear!

  2. I hadn't heard of Project 333. I don't know if I could do it either, but I'm intrigued. I'll have to take a look.

I rotate my clothes a bit too. Not a lot, but I will rotate between putting away/taking out tanks and sweaters using bins under my bed. And I purchased a bench with storage to rotate my holiday themed stuff. (I'm teacher and the kids love it when I wear a Grinch sweatshirt or a tee with a heart, lol) Beyond that, I also don't have enough space to do much else. But, I probably don't need it anyway since my weather is probably similar to yours, Leslie. I'm in the SF Bay Area. It gets "cold" for here (but probably not by comparison to other places), and I don't need the array of warm clothes someone in snowy weather would. My problem is really that I need to get rid of things. Finding more storage will only enable me to keep everything and continue to accumulate similar stuff!

I like the idea that I've curated my look and what I like, and that's why I gravitate toward certain styles. It's making me feel fancy! ;-)

    1. Hi there! Let me know what you think of Project 333.

I don't have a lot of warm winter clothes, mainly coats and some sweaters. If I could put those away in storage it would free up some space in my closet. It does help that I do regular closet clean outs. I try for every season.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
