Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.

The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels.

Size Kids 4

I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large, but that's okay since I wear thick socks. I couldn't decide between Chestnut and Sand and finally went with Sand because I wanted a more neutral color.

Size Kids 4

Let's take a close up look at these shoes.

It feels nicely padded and will keep your feet warm. It's been chilly in Atlanta, so I have been wearing these quite often on the weekends while I get my steps in. They look very cute with sweatpants and joggers. The bottoms do not have a lot of traction so I would not wear them in the rain.

The upper is made of suede and mesh canvas. The tongue is padded and these come with two sets of laces. I prefer the plaid laces as it gives it a more interesting look. The shoes are comfy but does not have a whole lot of arch support. I think 4 miles is the most I would walk in these. It's definitely a casual walking shoe.

Did you know there are two different UGG companies? What do you think of this? I'm still in shock! I feel awful for being duped and now I feel bad about not supporting the original small business from Australia. If you want to read more about it, here's an article I found. That's it for me! Hope you all have a lovely Monday.

  1. Oh I've no idea there are two different UGG companies!

Just checked the biggest Canadian shoe retailer's website and they are actually carrying the American UGG brand. The UGG Classic Short II Boot does use genuine sheepskin upper and pure wool insole. Some boot styles, however, use "UGGplush insole", faux fur and "200g insulation, DryTech Technology".

I've never owned a pair of UGG.

    1. I forgot to post the production description - "The Classic Short II sand boots from UGG Australia have an easy on-off and enhanced versatility. Pre-treated to keep it looking better for longer, this Classic features everything you love about the original: signature sheepskin, ultra-soft UGGplush lining, and a flexible, lightweight sole. Wear with virtually anything – the styling options are endless." Kind of misleading and makes you think it's the original UGG from Australia.

    2. Hi Andrea! I've owned a bunch of UGGs back when I lived in New York all from the American company. I still have one pair left. They actually do feel really nice, but they're also about 13 years old. I am very curious to now try the real thing from Australia. I have noticed in recent years the American company has declined in quality. Seems like they use genuine sheepskin but faux fur. But yes, they are very misleading! Shady...

    5. This is interesting, I looked up EMU and found this on wikipedia.

Emu Australia was originally established as Jackson's Tannery by Gordon Jackson in 1948. Jackson's Tannery supplied ugg boots to several retailers including a Western Australian company, Country Leather, who supplied their products to Ugg Holdings in the United States. In 1994, Country Leather opened its own shop in Redondo Beach, California and Ugg Holdings began sourcing ugg boots directly from Jackson's, who had changed their name to EMU Australia when surf veteran Andrew Raggett took over ownership of the company. Following the sale of Ugg Holdings to Deckers Outdoor Corporation, who outsourced the manufacture of ugg boots to China in 1995, EMU continued production and sales under their own Emu brand.[1][2] The main headquarters for the company is located in South Geelong, Victoria, Australia. International locations include Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; Hamburg, Germany; and London, England.

    6. I guess at one point it was really made in Australia since EMU supplied them? It's somehow all inter-related.

    7. Interesting information, Leslie. I just checked the label inside my EMU boots. 100% Australian sourced wool but guess what? Made in CHINA! :O

  2. I had no idea there were two different Ugg companies! Does the Australian company sell here in the U.S.?

I have boots, sneakers, sandals. I checked and all of mine have the big G in the middle so all are American. My boots are leather and sheepskin (the real stuff) though.

    1. Hi there. They do not, they ship from Australia to the US, shipping is free if your order is over $300 AUS which is roughly $200 USD. It's a very small business apparently.

  3. I had no idea about this! I remember the hype about was “from Australia” or whatever, turns out it’s not?

    1. Hi AC! Yup, it was all a lie! SMH. The American company basically stole the branding from the real Australian company. Awful!

    2. Wait a sec, but Andreas description sounds like they’re describing the original Uggs. Cindy

    3. Hi Cindy! The American brand is very misleading.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Fit Review Friday! Allbirds Tree Glider

Hi everyone! I'm posting from New Orleans. I'm hitting up a Lululemon while I'm here. I always like to visit other Lululemon stores when I'm traveling. I was planning on having an Aviator Nation review for you guys but Hurricane Helene threw my plans out the window. So I will try and have it up when I get back to Atlanta. In the meantime, here's an Allbirds review.  For reference my street size is 5.5. I'm usually a 5.5 in Allbirds, but for the Tree Gliders they run large. I took these in a size 5. Definitely size down. I've partnered up with Allbirds! Super excited to share my  personal link . Click on  my link  for a 15% off. Or use my Code  PETITEIMPACT15 Tree Glider Natural White Beige/Blizzard Sole  Size 5 I went to visit the Allbirds store in Avalon and got to try these on in person.
