In Depth Review! Lululemon's Newest Quilted Grid Belt Bag in Grey Sage

It's officially October! It was actually chilly enough yesterday that I wore my Scuba Oversized Full Zip in Natural Ivory. I paired it with Athleta's Farallon Jogger in Olive and Grid Belt Bag in Grey Sage. I thought it was a really cute and comfy fall outfit. Then of course throughout the day, the temperature rose to high 70s and then I started getting a little too hot. 😅

I'm still eyeing the Wunder Puff Cropped Vest in Trench, but it's too puffy for my petite frame. Aritzia has the Little Puff Vest which would be perfect and wallet friendly, but it's not available in any cream or beige colors. Turner Taupe is close, but it's sold out in my size. Umbra Blue is really nice too and I'm considering that color. If anyone has any suggestions for an alternative, please let me know! Now let's get to the review.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

I am all about casual/comfy and love how everything drapes together effortlessly. I highly recommend this entire outfit! 😂

Lululemon's latest belt bag is slightly bigger than the super popular Everywhere Belt Bag. For those who feel the EBB is slightly too small for their everyday needs, the Quilted Grid Belt Bag is roomier. It's about 50% larger without feeling too big and bulky. It's probably the perfect size. Some days I struggle fitting my phone, card case, key holder and sunglasses with the EBB. I do not have this problem at all with the Quilted Grid Belt Bag.

Quilted Grid Belt Bag - Gray Sage

How it compares to the Everywhere Belt Bag
Dimensions:
Quilted Grid Belt Bag are 8.3" X 2" X 5.5"
    Everywhere Belt Bag 7.5" X 2" X 5"

The front of the bag is quilted and feels soft and slightly puffy, but not overly so. First thing I noticed is the absence of the Lululemon rubber tag, which is fantastic. I much prefer it with just the tiny logo on the bottom right corner. The logo itself feels like rubbery plastic.

The fabric is water repellant.

The zipper is also plastic and matches the color of the bag. The zipper runs very smoothly.

There's an extra piece here that's not part of the EBB design. I tried to Google to find out the name of this flap that is attached to the strap but couldn't find anything. I think it's there as a reinforcement to bear a heavier load. If anyone knows what the proper name is for this, do let me know!

I do like the double zipper but as you walk, the metal zipper pulls bounce around and makes a clanging sound.

The buckle is plastic but I do like the placement of the logo.

This version also has the extended strap.

Back of the back has an external pocket with a zipper.

This is my husband's iPhone 12Pro. I am taking the photos with my iPhone. 😅

You do need to angle the phone slightly to get it into the pocket, but perhaps it'll get easier with use.

The bag came stuffed with paper. I do think that when I'm not using this bag, I will need to place the stuffing back in to not lose shape, which means this will be slightly more maintenance than the EBB. Just something to keep in mind!

The inside of the bag is quite roomy. There are two small mesh pockets on one side and a zipper pocket on the other side. The Lululemon logo is a sticker decal.

This bag can fit quite a lot of items. However, if I fill it to the max, the bag does feel heavy like a small brick. Which won't be very comfortable if you're walking around all day. It also makes the bag look bulky.

Looks too bulky filled to the max

Once I removed a few items, it looked much better.

The price is $30 more than the EBB. 😱 I will say that if the price of the EBB goes up to $48, which is what I've been hearing then it's only $20 more. But even so, it's quite a steep price difference for a belt bag. We're talking $70+ after tax. That said I still kept it and I've already worn it for a couple of weekends now and find it to be really practical even more so than the EBB. Plus I'm a sucker for Gray Sage.

Overall, I am a fan of this new size belt bag. I am liking the Quilted Grid line and the crossbody tote looks great in Gray Sage. It also came in black, but it's already sold out!

I have to share this super cute photo of Flash. While I was taking photos of everything, I turned around and saw Flash sitting in the middle of everything, just looking at me. Well that's all for today, hope you enjoyed the review and let me know in the comments if you'll be getting this new sized belt bag! Have a fabulous Monday!

  1. Thanks for the great review, Leslie. I wasn't sure if I liked the bag when it was uploaded but now I want it if a nice color comes out. :) I just wish LLL brings back the double buckles cos I"m not a big fan of the double straps, though it's not a deal breaker.

    Have a nice week!

    1. Hi Andrea! I prefer the double buckle too, but I am getting used to the double strap version now that I've used it for a bit. I have it extended to the longest setting since I'm using it as a crossbody, so there isn't much of leftover fabric at all to deal with.

  2. This is the best review ever! You covered so much detail. The quilted bag is very pretty and if they ever restock I'd like a black one.

    1. Hi Janessa! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am hoping they release it in a pink or natural ivory.

  3. great review! may I ask about the colour of the quilted ebb? you have it in both grey sage and black - which one looks better? (as I am hunting for them now! :) )

    1. I think it depends. I'm very much into neutrals at the moment so I've been using Grey Sage a lot. The black is just black - so pretty basic but it does go with everything. I don't think you can really go wrong with either one. Good luck with your hunt!

  4. Love it and thanks for the great review! Do you feel like the strap is a little less thick than the EBB?

    1. Hi there, thanks! The strap is exactly the same I didn't find much difference between the two straps.

  5. Hi! Could you please help in finding out if the iPad Mini 6 fits in this quilted bag?

  6. Hi Leslie, thanks for all the close up pics, very helpful! What are your thoughts on this compared to the large (2L) EBB? With a petite frame as well, I find the 2L EBB a bit too overwhelming on the chest, but love the look of this quilted one! Would you say the quilted material is a bit shiny? Thanks in advance :)

    1. Hi there, I have a review of the 2L EBB and it's way too large on my petite frame. The 1.5L is the perfect size IMO. The quilted is not shiny at all, it's very matte. Let me know if you try it!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
