Upload! February 1st 2022 + Vuori End of Season Sale!

Happy Lunar New Year! It's the year of the Tiger! It's also the first day of February which means I'm officially starting my no buy today. In case you're not participating in the Frugal February Challenge, Vuori just dropped their end of season sale

Also if you haven't heard, Lululemon has raised their prices on Hotty Hot HR Short and Align Tank. They are now $68 and up. Not sure I can justify $70+ after tax for a pair of shorts? Yowza. What do you think, are the price hikes still worth it? I guess it's a good thing I'm on a ban this month! 😟

Let me know if you bought anything! I have my eye on the Nulu Cropped Define Jacket Soft Denim but will have to wait until March to give it a proper fit review.

(Can't believe the new price tag.)

(Now $68!! Eeeeek)

(This looks really sharp! 😍)

  1. Oof - $68 for shorts?? HHs don't work for me, but I'm sure Speed Ups (and a lot of others) are next. That's a lot, but I wear the crap out of my Speed Ups. Some I've had for years, and when I calculate cost per wear, it's not too bad. I still prefer to purchase second-hand - or at least on WMTM.

I think you've inspired me to go on a no-buy this month. At least it's the shortest month of the year, amirite? I tracked last month's spending/selling and came out a net of ~ $200. I was shooting for $100, because I cleared out a lot...but also bought a lot, I guess. I'm trying to consume less this year, as I just. don't. need. more.

    1. Hi LZ! Yes! Let's do this no-buy together. More the merrier. Or more to commiserate together! That's not bad at all, tracking your spending and selling. That's amazing right there. I did sell but did not keep track of it that way. But agreed. I am trying to spend less and not hoard everything.

I'm sad about the HHs because I love them for working out, more so than Speed Up Shorts. But I would assume the price hike will come for those as well. Sigh.

  2. It's been a week since the Nulu Cropped Define Jacket in Vintage Plum dropped in Canada and I'm still drawn to it. I think it looks petite-friendly. If my size is restocked in Canada, I may go for it.

The Slim Fit Above Knee Dress Artifact and Hotty Hot HR skirt also look good, but the high prices are stopping me from pulling the trigger. In Toronto, sales tax is 13%. It's hard to justify paying $84 for a running skirt. With Lulu's increased prices, I need to be more mindful about what I buy. May be that's a good thing--to buy fewer things that I want, but don't need.

    1. wow! The skirt is actually $78+tax rather than $74...ok, that's a clear no for me. =(

    2. I agree that they have finally reached a price tag on most items that give me pause. When I first started buying, a scuba was $88. It was the right price point for me, I guess, because it was an impulse buy fairly often. Once they hit $118, it became a think it over purchase. My local sales tax has gone up as well, 10% can really push the price up quickly. It's good for me in a lot of ways. It made me way more picky about what I purchase from LL and I'm accumulating less. I usually lose interest in buying whatever it was after a week or two, so that means I didn't really want it anyway.

    3. Yes I totally agree with you both... Lulu has hit a price point where I have to think about keeping the item is worth it. It is definitely pushing me to look more at Athleta. They have better sales and coupons. On the other hand, accumulating less is better.

  3. I can't believe the price increases too! I won't be buying any shorts at $68... even though I wanted tot get a white pair for summer... I will buy resale or WMTM unless I LOVE an item/color. I wish they uploaded the heathered white opal. Scuba Full Zip for Lunar New Years! Mercari has $14 off $100+ purchases right now (automatically applied til the 3rd?) and so maybe I'll get a Scuba Zip there... With tax it's over $140 for me at LLL.... ooof!

    1. Same Janessa, just not pretty at these prices. It's not easy to stomach especially since there are new drops every week. Have to be really choosy and just let go of FOMO.

  4. Wow I didn't notice there price hike...but the LNY red align tank is still $58 so better priced in comparison 🙂

Didn't see the hotty hot skirt in cdn....Hmm

I bought the cropped nulu define in soft denim and I'm excited to try it! On Monday, I bought vintage plum in a size down (sz 2 - both 4 and 6 were gone) during a restock... Doubt it'll fit but I was desperate to get one to try lol.

I should really go on a low buy month. Sigh.

    1. Hi Blueberries- I would snatch up that $58 LNY Align Tank if you were considering it.

Oooohhh do let me know how you like the Cropped Define Jacket! If that fit is similar to the regular Define?

Well afterwards you can still join me on no buy Feb! It's only Day 2. LOL.

  5. Like everybody else, I’m not happy about the price increase and glad LLL items are not as attractive to me as they were years ago. Items I bought 7-8 years ago were way more unique with better quality. I don’t mind paying a little bit more for nice designs but not just for the brand name.

    1. Hi Andrea! Yes I 100% agree, the designs and prints were more unique a few years back. Now the colors and prints just seem lazy to me. I am hoping to cut back on Lulu spending this year. But have a feeling Athleta and Aviator Nation will get more of my money!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
