Site Announcement!

Announcement

A few years ago, I was asked by a reader if I could add a “Subscribe by email” service to the site. The idea behind it is that rather than visiting the site, people would get the latest article emailed to them to read. My husband didn’t think anyone would use it, but he was wrong. A surprising amount of people signed up and I’m really grateful for that.

This site is hosted on Google’s Blogger platform and Google has informed site owners that the service that sends out the email is going away. At the end of this month, Google will no longer send out the latest post. Given that a lot of you use the service, my husband and I have been researching out alternatives and we have found one that we think is even better than the service Google provided. The service is provided by Mailchimp and we’re excited to explore more of the features they offer site owners.

Now if you’re an email subscriber, you’ll need to sign up with Mailchimp using the form below. Mailchimp did allow us to import user emails from Google to its platform, but we don’t feel as though it’s our place to give people’s email addresses to a third party service without their consent. Please be aware that when you sign up for the new service, you'll be getting the latest post twice; once from Google and the other from Mailchimp. At the bottom of the Google email, you can unsubscribe or you can just wait it out until their service is turned off.

Additionally over the next few months, we'll be doing a design up and possibly moving to a new blogging platform. If there are any features you see on other blogs that you'd like to see here, feel more than free to share it in the comments below and we'll explore feasibility and if it fits into the blog in general.

Again, thank you for your continued support and we hope this change isn’t too much of a burden.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
