Fit Review Friday! Athleta Sundown Sweatshirt and Salutation Jogger

Happy Friday! I have another Athleta review. I loved Lululemon's Warm Down Crew so much that I decided to give Athleta's Sundown Sweatshirt a try. It gets amazing reviews.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms. For Athleta this usually translates to size PXS or Petite 0.

For this particular sweatshirt I decided to size up for a more oversized look. If you want a more fitted look I would stick to your usual size. First thing I noticed, the cascadia violet is more pink than purple to me, so I am a little disappointed in the color.

The fabric is 98% cotton and 2% polyester. I was expecting this sweatshirt to be softer based on all the reviews. Sadly it wasn't as soft as I hoped or maybe I'm just super spoiled by Lululemon's Warm Down Crew. I mean seriously, that sweatshirt is my favorite. I wish I bought more colors.

This is a relaxed fit and the petite sizing is really nice. The sleeves are a nice length on me and the sweatshirt hit at the hip. Perfect length for petites. This is a mid weight sweatshirt and price is reasonable - $69. I do think I would have kept it if I liked the color more.

Next up, we have the Salutation Jogger. What's interesting is these come in size PXXS! I am not that tiny so I went with my usual size PXS and what do you know, these joggers run slightly big. The length measures 24.5 inches long which means on me, they're pretty much full length.

These are made of Powervita fabric which reminds me of Nulu- they're very soft and buttery. Maybe not quite as buttery as Nulu but very very close.

I love that these joggers have pockets, but here's my pet peeve, the pockets really stick out when you move around. Forget about bending over a little bit, just walking and taking steps make them pop. Here are a couple of really awkward looking photos of me "walking".

Not sure why they look so baggy around the hip area for me. Maybe the PXXS would have been better? I'm not 100% sure. There's a good chance they stick out because of my hips. Unfortunately both items are going back to Athleta.

In other news I'm expecting the Rogue Renegade Hoodie to arrive tomorrow so I should have a review posted on Monday. I also have some more Athleta reviews coming up!

Seek Softness Midrise Crop are now on sale. I absolutely love how soft these are. They look stylish and flattering even on petites! They do run a little large.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a great weekend. Stay safe out there.

  1. The Sundown Sweatshirt looks nice on you! I have the hooded version in Etruscan Red and I agree it’s not the softest material, but I like the fit so it was a keeper for me. I also got it on a 25% off sale which helped.

I have the Salutation Joggers and find if I wear a longer top it covers up the poofy/baggy sides. But I agree it is a weird cut there. I personally think they look good on you, minus the hip area. :)

    1. Thanks! My husband agrees, he thinks it looks super cute on me. I will probably re-order it in another color.

The Salutation Joggers were oh so close. I am really impressed with how close the Powervita is to Nulu. I have some more Athleta on the way including some Powervita bras. I'm excited. =)

  2. The sweatshirt looks really cute on you! I love that it’s relaxed but doesn’t look huge on you, Agree you should get it in another color.

I love the Salutation Jogger except the hip part LOL! The pockets of my Dance Studio Pants also stick out when I move around but it doesn’t bother me too much. Are you going to try it in a smaller size?

    1. Thanks! I'm thinking maybe the teal or the bright blue. I guess I should try the joggers in the PXXS huh? I have a feeling it won't solve the problem though! It might even enhance it? It might just be how it is cut and probably looks better on someone who has more of a straight figure.

  3. That sweatshirt color is definitely pink. I still think it's a cute color. The pockets on the joggers are nope! They should be flattering at all times for the price :P

    1. The sweatshirt is pink in the sunlight. Indoors it looks more like the photos on the website. I am going to try it again in one of the blues. Can't decide between the teal and the bright blue.

      Agreed about the joggers!

  4. Sweatshirt looks like a good fit on you! The softness factor is pretty important. I bought a jcrew sweatshirt that was kinda rough inside. I really liked the color, so I kept it. Unfortunately, I don’t wear it a lot because of the inside. Yep, you’re right about that jogger- looks big and the pockets do stick out. I still like the vuori joggers the best. Thanks for the review on the sweatshirt- I kept looking at it online to add to my Covid wear, but it has to be cozy and soft.

    1. Glad I was able to help you out on the sweatshirt! Fit is great, but wish it was softer. Have you tried any of the Vuori tops other than the hoodie, which I ended up buying in teal. My husband says the Vuori Ponto Shorts are now his favorite shorts ever! WIN! The Vuori joggers are definitely on my list. I am waiting for more colors to be released, which is very soon.

  5. I tried the vuori energy top- another so-soft item, but the neckline was so high. I kept pulling it down so I returned it. Have you seen the lululemon ‘tiger’ color? Wondering if anyone can tell me if it’s super bright.

    1. Ah good to know about the energy top. I'll steer clear of that one. I have not seen the Tiger color yet. But from the website it does look very bright.

  6. How do you like the Salutation Joggers in comparison the the Align Joggers? I'm debating between the two. Thanks!

    1. Hard to say as neither of them worked for me. The Salutation Joggers were really baggy around the hips and that was a deal breaker for me. The Align Joggers I really liked but they were too long on my petite frame. So I guess if they actually did fit in length I would have went with the Align Joggers. Hope that helps!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
