Fit Review! Carbon38 Goldsheep Polonium Leggings & Cozy Up Buttercup Jacket in Black

First up I finally got the Cozy Up Buttercup Jacket in black.  It arrived in the mail today!  My husband got them for me as a surprise.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches and usually a size 2 in Lululemon outerwear, but I take a 4 in fitted tops.

This jacket is in a size 2 and very comfortable with enough room for layering.  Wearing it unzipped it did not look super big on me, but still oversized mainly because of the collar.

I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the collar to lay right because of the asymmetrical zipper.  However once I zipped it up, I think the jacket looked more put together.

Oh, I should have cropped all these photos.  Just ignore the garbage can and coke bottle!  I don't have a plain blank wall for a background, so my closet will have to do!

I really like the length on me, it covers my bum completely which is very nice, especially now that we are officially in winter weather here in Boston.  I'm excited to try this jacket and see how warm it is.  Right now it feels like 2 degrees!  Brrrrrrr.

Completely zipped up, the collar did not rub against my chin, which I find some jackets do, and makes it very uncomfortable.  I'm happy that this is not the case here.

As you can tell I really like the hood.  The hood really makes the jacket look extra cute.  It is very fuzzy and warm.  The inside of the jacket is completely lined in sherpa (which I learned is not an animal, so this is vegan friendly!).

Overall, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.  I took one star off because of the pricing.  At $178 it is quite steep, and if you have to pay taxes on it, even more so!  I think the price would have been better if kept around $148, but I have a feeling you will not see this on WMTM.

Here are a couple of pictures of the jacket in heathered silver spoon that I took last week.  I think I definitely prefer the black, it suits my style.

Next up are the Polonium Leggings by Carbon38 X Goldsheep.  The leggings are designed by Carbon38, but the fabric is a custom Poly-Lycra blend by Goldsheep.  As of right now, they only have size medium left!  When I ordered these 5 days ago, they still had all sizes in stock.

After seeing these leggings on Agent Athletica's blog I decided I must have them.  I'm definitely shorter than she is and not as thin, but she suggested to size down in these, so I took a chance and ordered them in a size XS.

For reference I usually a size 4 in Lululemon bottoms.

The waist and is wide and very comfortable, the fit is snug, but it's doesn't feel pinched at all.  I wore them all day and not once did I think it felt too tight at the waist.

The fabric is very smooth and soft. I should mention is it super stretchy!  The upper thigh area is a bit wrinkly in the back underneath my butt.  I also noticed it is wrinkly around my knees and not tight at all by my ankles.  The sizing I would say runs on large.  I don't think I would have fit a XXS if they made it in that size because of the waist.  Overall, I'm still keeping these because I love the print so much.  But if it wasn't because of the print I would return them.  And they do look fab with the Cozy Up Buttercup Jacket!  I would love to wear these out casually with a pair boots.

I'm going to do a workout in these leggings tonight.  I'll report back as to how they perform.

*Update- I did a 30 minute kettlebell workout with these on and they felt amazing.  It's always a good thing when you're working out and not thinking about what you're wearing because everything is so comfortable.  All your focus is on your workout.  That's the best test for any kind of active wear.  I am happy to report there was no tugging on anything and no adjustments were needed for these leggings.  They stayed put for the entire workout.  And for the first time ever, I managed to do a snatch with my 25 pounder.  Yay!

  1. Great purchases! Love the black buttercup jacket on you. Looks so warm and cozy. Thanks for the fit details. Also, those leggings are so interesting and stunning. I think you will feel awesome wearing them. If our Canadian dollar wasn't so low, I'd be doing more shopping from US sites and I'd definitely be eying those two pieces! Oh well. Money saved yet again!

    1. Thanks! I did a kettlebell workout with them and felt amazing. I'm dreading the month of February because I'll be going on a spending ban the entire month! =T

  2. I haven't spent $ for two weeks. It sounds silly, but I'm very proud of myself! Lol.
Next time you are at a store, let me know what you think of the Turn Jacket. I have the original Bhakti jacket from a few years ago. It's seldom worn and I'm wondering what the excitement is about the fleece version. Thx!

    1. I don't think the US got the Turn Jacket? I'll keep an eye out for it though! 2 weeks is great! I don't know how I'm going to get through a whole month. Especially since I'm eyeing Werkshop leggings!

  3. Oh no! Now I'm checking out werkshop leggings, too! lol. In reality, you are saving me $, because I haven't had to venture into LLL. Once I'm in a store and I try on stuff, it's almost guaranteed that I'll buy something. The vast majority of items fit so well. But I try to "shop my closet" whenever I'm trying to refrain from shopping.

    1. I can't seem to decide which I like more, the Dove leggings or the Dragon leggings. I definitely want the Circus Girl ones though! And I'm super sad the Butterfly ones sold out in my size.
I will prob go to Lll this weekend just to see what's new.

  4. Owls, New Zealand, and Galaxy are my faves. If I had to pick one I'd buy the owls. They will probably restock the butterflies, don't you think? Do you have any intel on the fit of these leggings?

The size small fits me pretty well.

I will prob pull the trigger on another pair at the end of the month! Maybe they will have the Butterfly ones in stock again.

  5. Yup! Buttercup looks great on you. In fact it looks better on you than in the photos posted by Lulu Addict. I also have the black one and I love it! So cozy! I also love the big pockets.

    1. Thank you so much! I've bought so much outerwear this season I really don't need any more. I haven't worn it out yet, but I definitely look forward to using the big pockets.

  6. I tried on the Turn Jacket today. It's a roomy tts. I thought I liked the Cozy Cuddle Up jacket, but having tried them both on tonight...the Turn jacket is much nicer in terms of fit, material, and style. I purchased my tts 4 in Alberta Lake. My 2 weeks of not shopping has officially ended. ;) And since it's over, I also ordered the black Buttercup jacket and am having it shipped to my sister in law in the US. Hope I get to see it before summer arrives. Lol.

    1. Very nice! I hope the US gets the Turn Jacket in Alberta Lake before my ban begins! I would like to see it for myself. I really love that color.

  7. The Turn Jacket did not have any fit issues that I had with the Bhakti. Specifically, bunching of the material at the shoulders. By the way, I also saw (but didn't try on) the runderful pants and I'm glad you steered me away from them. :)

    1. The store I went to today didn't have the Turn Jacket! So sad. But glad you passed on the Runderful Pants!

  8. The pink is such a pretty color and fits perfectly! I did some intense cardio and the pants did the slide down like my other workout pants do. I wanna order the best workout clothes in the brown as well.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
